this is a video of Leavesden layout taken at 2010 Chatham & District MRC Exhibition. the following is taken from the exhibition catalogue: Leavesden Peter Clark 7mm, 'O'gauge From the makers of Bough Beech, Leavesden is an 'O' gauge modern image layout set in the late 1980s early 1990s and based on the southern region and is third railed. Leavesden isa a ficticious location on the outskirts of Biggin Hill and is the station serving Biggin Hill International airport. There are four platforms which are served by various electric units including 2 and 4 EPB's, 2 HAP's, 4CIG's, 4VEP's and Networkers. There is also an InterCity cross country service, a DEMU service using Thumper and various parcel services. Next to the station is an engineer's yard, a small loco stabelling point and a siding used by the tanks for the aviation fuel for the airport.

N2A (cn 4116) Goodyear Blimp touches down at Leavesden Aerodrome on July 1, 1972. I recal rushing to the fence at our back garden on hearing the noisy engines in the distance. I grabbed my father's Voightlander camera and snapped away, crossing the main road beside the old drome to get a close view, joining crowds of people watching her come down. Sadly Leavesden, code named dot dash dot dot - dot dot dot dash - was closed in the name of progress after a series of owners De Havillands, Bristol Siddeley, Hawker Siddeley and is now part film studio-hi tech park and housing estate.Half the old runway has been dug up and the remainder is a car park for the Harry Potter Studios. I recall it as a very quiet aerodrome with some light aircraft movements and aircraft repair work at huge hangers at the end of the runway near Hunton Bridge a massive conning tower and at one time its was home to the fabulous red twin-prop Comet Racer A-CSS. There were yearly open days with air shows when it was De Havillands, making I believe helicopter engines, having made wooden wonders DH Mosquitos during the war. Happy days indeed. Sadly the lovely sports field where I used to play football after school and pic mushrooms is a truly the most hideoous housing estate this side of Gotham City. Were you a local planespotter - did you cycle all the way to Bovingdon, Elstree, Panshanger, and Denham airfields did you see the V bombers at Radlet, did you buy a Green Line coach ticket and spent the day <b>...</b>
