This January 1969 Les Paul Standard weighs 9.40 lbs. and has very fat nut width of just over 1 11/16inches and a standard Gibson scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Solid one-piece mahogany body with single cream binding and maple top with gold finish. One-piece mahogany neck with a huge profile, the early long tenon neck joint but with the wider headstock. Rosewood fretboard with 22 original jumbo frets and inlaid pearl trapezoid position markers. Headstock with inlaid pearl "Gibson" logo and gold silk-screened "Les Paul Model." Individual Kluson Deluxe 'double-line' tuners with double-ring Keystone plastic buttons and "D-169400 / Patent No." stamped inside. Serial number "540878" stamped into the back of the headstock. Single-layer black plastic truss-rod cover with two screws. Two P-90 pickups with really hot outputs of 7.74k and 8.11k. Cream plastic pickguard. Four controls (two volume, two tone) on lower treble bout plus three-way selector switch on upper bass bout. Gold plastic bell-shaped knobs with metal tops. Gibson Tune-O-Matic retainer bridge with metal saddles and separate stud tailpiece. Headstock with "Gibson" logo and "Les Paul TV Model" silk-screened in gold. Black plastic bell-shaped truss-rod cover. Closed-back single-line Kluson Deluxe strip tuners with white plastic oval buttons. Serial number "9 7836" inked-on in black on the back of the headstock. One super hot black P-90 pickup with a huge output of 8.27k. Black plastic pickup cover stamped on the underside "UC-450-1 / 2". Single-ply tortoiseshell pickguard with four screws. Just got this brand new Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute Worn Honey Burst Humbucker guitar. These are amazing value coming in at about one third of the price of the Gib LP Standard. The difference is this doesn't have the fancy finish it's cut back to the bare essentials. It's the same piece of wood same Gibson pickups, nut, hardware as the Standard. As far as I can tell it plays as well as any other current production Gibson. I certainly don't feel it's holding me back. I hope you enjoy the blues jam ! I've added pickup covers and 'speed' knobs. The stock pickups are bridge, Gibson 498T and neck, Gibson 490R. Strings are changed to 009-042. The guitar is played through a Line6 PODxt directly recorded into the video sound track.

It has tons of tone shaping capability, versatility, it's built well, has great looks and it's fundamental tone is killer. This one's a keeper for me and can compete easily with the higher end of other great drives I have in my possession. This video was made with a Larry Corsa modded Les Paul (Peter Green '59 Burst specs) and a HIWATT Custom 50 SA212 amp. Here's a jam my freshly strung LP Special... I recently traded a strat for it and it was strung with 9's when I got it. I restrung it with 10's and like the feel of it much better. 9's are just two light for me. Anyhow, I'm playing it through my Super Champ X2 head set on the Twin Reverb Model, and custom cab loaded with an Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker. It's running through a Line 6 M5 (analog delay) and Boss RC-30 Loop station. As usual, I'm just using my Nikon Coolpix S8000 for audio and video recording.... enjoy!
