I attempt to get closer to the car being pushed. Monday 8th August, 6:30pm. Clarendon Rise and Albion Way carpark. A big group covering a large area collided with the police at this point, amongst many others. I was one of many bystanders, locals worried about their property and girls who giggled at the prospect of their young men being manly. I watched people pulling down walls to make bricks, rolling cars and dumpster sized bins into the police lines, setting them all on fire. A pub up the road was smashed in and the occupants mugged and one stabbed, the chinese takeaway next door had a motor cycle thrown through its window. I found it facinating and horrifying at the same time.

Latest updates say 26 police officers have been injured and 43 people arrested as violent riots flared up in north London. Two patrol cars, a building and a double-decker bus were torched as rioters clashed with officers on Saturday in front of the Tottenham Police Station, where people had gathered to demand "justice" for the death of a man identified locally as Mark Duggan, a 29-year-old father of four, killed in an apparent gunfight. More than 300 were involved in what began as a march to demand justice for the killing. Shops were also looted.

The riots in tottenham are spreading to hackney enfield Police chiefs, politicians and community leaders condemned "opportunistic criminality" amid a fresh wave of violence. Mrs May said: "I think this is about sheer criminality. "That is what we have seen on the streets. The violence we've seen, the looting we've seen, the thuggery we've seen - this is sheer criminality, and let's make no bones about it. "That's why I say that these people will be brought to justice, they will be made to face the consequences of their actions and I call on all members of local communities to work with the police constructively to help the police to bring these criminals to justice." She added: "Once again, I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of the police officers who put themselves in harm's way to protect the public, their property and local businesses." 'Rioters will lynch journalists if police get access to raw footage'
London Metropolitan police have reportedly urged British media outlets to hand over footage of the riots that swept the capital in early August voluntarily, without recourse to official procedures. Police say the images could help them identify criminals, and have vowed to obtain the footage through court action if the broadcasters and newspapers do not comply. Officers have been approaching media corps privately, appealing to their sense of social responsibility. According to the Guardian newspaper, the police want to get their hands on all the material British newspapers and broadcasters have shot, regardless of whether the material has been published or not.
