Limbu Saran Kumar （林沙云）gives speech to university students
Limbu Saran Kumar （林沙云）, the Commissioner to Nepalese Affairs of the Southern Democratic Alliance, has given a speech to 100 students in Hong Kong Polytechnics University, on 30 September 2011. He has introduced to the students his life in army and in Hong Kong. The students are from different parts of Asia and are undertaking the course of Understanding The Hong Kong Communities. The course is designed by Dr. Chan Fung Yi, Pauline, lecturer of Department of Applied Social Sciences of the university. Some of the students have visited Indonesian domestic helpers in the Victoria Park. Some of them are planning to visit government departments and local communities. They try very best to understand Hong Kong in different dimensions.

As of April 15, 2011, Nepal will turn 2068 years old in regards to Bikram Sambat calendar. Right now the New Nepali Constitution is planning a draft to use Kirat's calendar (Yele Sambat) to commemorate King Yalamber for opening up Kathmandu valley and starting the human civilization in the valley. During the conference last year in 2010, senior historians Prof. Jagadish Chandra Regmi and Prof. Dineshraj Pant presented a paper regarding the use of Kirat Yele Sambat. With Nepali government formally recognizing Yele Sambat, Nepal turned 5070 as of Friday 15th Jan 2010. Every year Kiranti(rai, limbu, sunuwar, yakkha) have been following their long traditional New Year which starts on the day of Nepali maghe sakranti which falls on 15th Jan. With the recognition of Yele Sambat this makes Nepal as one of the oldest civilization in the world in par with other civilization such as Ancient Mesopotamia, Indus Valley, Chinese, Greek, Egypt that are all more than 5000+ years old. This is the cultural dance by Kirat-Limbu that have been passed down generations by generation over the course of the millennium.

10 Facts about Limbu people of Nepal
The Yakthung or Limbu tribes and clans belong to the Kirati nation or to the Kirat confederation. They are indigenous to the hill and mountainous regions of east Nepal between the Arun and Mechi rivers to as far as Southern Tibet, Bhutan and Sikkim. The name Limbu is an exonym of an uncertain origin. The word Limbu roughly translates as an archer or 'the bearer of bows and arrows'. They call themselves Yakthumba/Yakthung (in Limbu language). They are also known as Shong, Xong or Drenjongka དརེན་འཛང་ཀ་ (in Tibet) or Chong, Tsong འསང་ in (Sikkim). Their estimated population of 700000 is centered in the districts of Sankhuwasabha, Tehrathum, Dhankuta, Taplejung, Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Panchthar and Ilam in Nepal. These districts are all within the Mechi and Kosi zones also known as Limbuwan. Portions of the Limbu population are also located in the East and West districts of Sikkim. A smaller number are scattered throughout the cities of Darjeeling and Kalimpong in West Bengal, India, and in North and South Sikkim and Bhutan. Limbu Clans and Tribes are divided into the Lhasa gotra (from Lhasa, Tibet) and Yunan gotra (from Yunan, China). The Limbu are known as Yakthung Thi-bon or Des Limbu (ten Limbu), from which thirteen Limbu sub-groups have emerged. According to legend, five of the groups came from Yunan, China and the other eight from Lhasa, Tibet.
