Tottenham go into the 1991 FA Cup Final on the 18th May 1991, after having beaten Arsenal in the Semi's, they faced Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest who took the lead through Stuart Pearce in the 16 minute with a brilliant left footed free kick. It was Paul Gascoignes last game for Tottenham as he was set to join Italian club Lazio, a move that very much favoured Spurs finacially as they were on the verge of going bankrupt at the time. However Gascoigne lunged in at Gary Charles after 16 minutes, seriously injuring himself, and ending his involvement in the game. So without Gascoigne, Tottenham ploughed on and the pressure mounted. Lineker himself had an goal ruled for offside in the 25min (1:34), however replays show it was clearly onside and a perfectly good goal. Lineker was then brought down in the box (1:53) on the 30 minute mark, however Mark Crossley saved the penalty that followed, Lineker's first saved penalty in an FA Cup final. Paul Stewart levelled it for Tottenham who then went on to win the FA Cup, after Des Walker headed it into his own net from a corner in extra time.

On the 11th June 1986 in there Group F Match against Poland at the Estadio Tecnológico, Monterrey, Lineker puts on a fantastic display by scoring a hattrick, England won the game 3-0 and qualified for the round of 16 stage. This brought Gary Lineker's international record to 9 goals in 16 internationals.
