'The Hunger Games' Becomes Lionsgate's Most Expensive Endeavor

Tatiana carrier here with another GAMES peak for ya! A new photo has been released for The Hunger Games, which is slated for March 23, 2012, which features Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen drawing her bow and arrow! Now there may not be MUCH to see here but you know we have to show you anything and everything from these guys! Also a little nugget of info for you hunger games fans...if your hoping for a sequel or 3rd installment of the flick, The Hunger Games would have to make ateleast 100 million to move forward with seqeuls. To break it down, The $80 million budget for The Hunger Games makes it the most expensive production ever for Lionsgate. However, analyst James Marsh predicts The Hunger Games could take in anywhere between $220 million and $733 million in worldwide pre-tax earnings. Lionsgate president Jon Feltheimer also indicated the 100 million figure for the seqeuls. Reagrding this target gross, he said, "I'm not too concerned we won't get to that kind of number. We would be disappointed if we didn't make three or four movies." The Hunger Games directed by Gary Ross comes to theaters March 23rd, 2012 and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, and Woody Harrelson. Hey there HUNGER GAMES fans, Tatiana Carrier with Clevver Movies and Ive got the deets on a potential Hunger Games Sequel! . Now, we just checked out the trailer to the hunger games earlier this week and now we get word that Lionsgate is getting serious about the second installment of The Hunger Games. As you guys already know, the studio was claiming that the first flick would have to make over 100million for a sequel to make sense, but we all know there is no way they wouldn't take advantage of this gem of a film series and make atleast 2 if not 3 installments. . The studios are currently courting Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire scribe Simon Beaufoy to write Catching Fire, the second installment of the three book series that tracks the life and death adventures of Katniss Everdeen. We also hear that Gary Ross, who directed The Hunger Games, is coming back for the sequel. There is no start date on this speculated sequel, but it definitely seems to be a high priority which is good enough news for us hunger games fans! . Lionsgate has optioned the film rights from video game publisher Deep Silver to develop a zombie picture inspired by the viral media sensation Dead Island. Sean Daniel who you may know from The Mummy and Stefan Sonnefeld will spearhead production through the Sean Daniel Company. A teaser trailer for the video game came out before people really knew what it was and it went viral and became a big hit. The game came out September 6th. So we are not shocked to see liongates jumping at this opportunity for a big screen adaptation of an already viral concept! The last movie poster was criticized for looking like a Jason Bourne ripoff, and this one seems to have a Bourne Ultimatum feel to it, but it still has a unique look.
