London Eye at Night

I dismissed my anxiety about heights to take a ride on the world's second largest Ferris Wheel, the (443 ft--wimpy to some of you) London Eye in the UK. I boarded one of the 32 passenger capsules. Up to 25 people are free to walk around or be seated on the 30 minute ride. The rotating London Eye does not stop moving; you have to walk on and off a moving capsule to ride. The nighttime panoramic view was marvelous, and a tad scary. It felt like a hovering helicopter ride...like my helicopter through the Grand Canyon.

The London Eye - The Director's Cut

The London Eye, or Millenium Wheel is the largest ferris wheel in Europe and, until recently the world. It is a great way to see London from above. You can find it on London's Southbank, just take the Jubilee tube line to Westminister and cross the bridge. I am recommending this route because I am sure you would want to take some photos! Music royalty-free from uk.youtube.com Based on A Flight On The London Eye previously appearing on my channel. Please check out these other excellent videos from Lifejourneyguy, which were filmed on the same day as we went together! Part One: uk.youtube.com Part Two: uk.youtube.com Thanks for watching:)

Scared on the London Eye!

This video was originally uploaded on my second channel DanishKelly. It was uploaded on November 22nd, 2009. I'm really not using my second channel at the moment, so I thought I would move this video to this channel for those who never saw it. I had so much fun this day! One of the best days I've ever had. The London Thames Cruise was beautiful, and I highly recommend it to anyone. The London Eye was really beautiful, but SCARY! I was so scared when we got up to the top. It's something I think you should experience if you visit London though. Amazing views! Ben: youtube.com Lauren: youtube.com

Seeing London from the Eye is the next best thing to doing it by helicopter. Spectacular panoramic views. Next time I'm in London, I hope the weather is better. It was overcast, so not the best light for video. Next time you're in London, don't miss the Eye. Just hop off your tour bus at Westminster Bridge. London Eye time-lapse and Westminster Millennium Pier boats - August 2008

Click the "watch in high quality" link. This is a time-lapse sequence of The London Eye I shot on a recent break in London, UK I filmed it on Tuesday August 26th 2008 at 11:10am from Victoria Embankment where it meets up with Westminster Bridge. This vantage point overlooks the Westminster Millennium Pier where boats often set off from. If YOU were a passenger on the London Eye or one of the boats during the filming period then perhaps you may see yourself in my video, If you do, leave a comment, perhaps you even photographed me photographing you ! The London Eye normally moves continually at an even speed even while passengers get on and off so I was quite surprised when I sequenced this film to find that there were several times when it stopped moving all together, any ideas why that could be? Each rotation of the eye takes about 30 minutes, meaning a capsule travels at a stately 26cm per second! The total weight of the wheel and capsules is 2100 tonnes so you can't expect it to go fast. ---------------------- Video Details The first part of the video is the full frame view of the London Eye and Westminster Millennium Pier as well as the Hungerford Bridge (aka Charing Cross Bridge) in the background. The second part of the video at 01:03 is a close up view of the boats arriving and departing from Westminster Millennium Pier. The third part of the video at 02:05 is a close up view of the Hungerford Bridge with the trains going across it as well as boats on the River ...

The London Eye carries 32 sealed and air-conditioned passenger capsules attached to its external circumference. It rotates at 0.26 metres per second about 0.9 km/h so that one revolution takes about 30 minutes. According to the London History, there was a predecessor to the London Eye called the "Great Wheel of London". Capable of carrying 1200 people, it was built in Earl's Court in 1895 and closed in 1906 after a problem trapped 74 people for four and a half hours.

London's 135 metre tall Millennium Wheel, known as the London Eye, is one of the most popular 'new' attractions in the city. One complete revolution takes 30 minutes and allows riders to see right across this vast city. Enjoy the ride!
