One of my laps in the Lotus Evora S during the Lotus Academy with instructor Shawn Taylor. Conditions were drying but still wet, and the entry to "Wind Sock" was preceded by a tight chicane. Great fun; thanks to Shawn and the Lotus Academy for the great instruction and putting up with us Yanks.

Alot fo people have been having problems doing this so i thought i'd share my laps. Not the best but i hope this helps. Aids are ABS set to 1. TC is turned off and it seemed to be easyier with it off. Also no other assists used.

Hi All I put this up as a an assist for those trying the challenge It was done with the assists turned off as TCS only slows you down and the ABS set to 1 with a standard controller I found that the the most time is to be made by doing the follow through flat and then getting the car turned in under braking for the 2nd to last corner. Also don't worry about braking to early as the most time is to be made on the exits of corners as on the way in you tend to get balked by the other cars. The second lap is harder than the first because the lines you can take are a lot less controlled by the other cars i actually made a bit of a mess of the hammerhead second time round so it is possible to go faster i think. It took me loads of goes but wierdly once you have done it, it is reasonably easy to repeat

Blurry for first 10 seconds before the auto-focus sorts itself out sorry! 1st Place finish in the Intermediate Special Event at the Top Gear Test Track with the Lotus Elise. A bit of a messy race but it was the first time I got 1st place. Also apologies for the blurry start, the auto-focus on the camera took a while to settle down.

Tips: this car has a MASSIVE amount of oversteer- So leave on Traction Control (yes, I know, normally you wouldn't, but you need to get this car under control) I put it at 7. Set Anti-Skid to ON, Active Steering to Mild. (you could use Active Steering Strong to eliminate all sliding, but I like a little it helps corner faster) and I set ABS to 5. That should get it under control. Then it's a matter of taking the corners like you did with the VW Samba Van. This test took about an hour to pass, most of that time I spent trying to find the optimum settings.

Take the Evora S supercharged V6, change the suspension and go chase the Porsche GT3. This is the best street/track car Lotus has ever built. Let's just hope it isn't too little too late.

Hey everyone, this is me finally completing in first place on the annoying Top Gear test track challenge using the ps3 controller. Drove like a jackass but still managed to not get disqualified, forgot how many tries exactly but it was somewhere around 20 tries I guess. I got to 1st place maybe 3 other times but kept driving like an idiot and disqualified myself. First time I beat it I got 3rd but it never occured to me to have the assists cranked up and well; it helps a lot, to say the least. Driving Options: Transmission: Manual Driving Line: On(even though I don't really follow it but since you don't get anything for turning it off I just leave it on) Traction Control: 8 Skid Recovery Force:On(this helps a lot :P) Active Steering: Off ABS: 1 I usally drive with tcs off and the skid recovery off but to get first in this challenge it was so much easier turning them on. Hope this helps anyone trying to get it also.

This has been bothering me. Many people are questioning the physics engine in GT5 because for some reason the Lotus cars are not as "grippy" as they should be in real life. Let me just say that a mid engine car that is as light as an Elise is going to be very slippery when you reach the limit of grip which is why many of them in real life come with street radial tires - problem solved. Anyways, there is nothing wrong with the physics engine. LEARN HOW TO DRIVE THE CAR. =) 2004 Lotus Elise 111R @ Top Gear Test Track Manual ABS @ 1 No other driver aids. HD Option AVAILABLE!!! I could promise you that I tried at least 60 tries. This was definitely one of the most frustrating races I've encountered yet. The car tends to spin out even if you accelerate while turning a little bit. Aside from being disqualified by that, you would still need the skills to not crash, go "shortcutting", or hit fully colored cones. Tip 1: Turn on every available aid on (Traction, ABS, etc.), but you will not be allowed to change ASM on. Instead, if you have set "Head Tracking" then you are allowed to in-race. Tip 2: There are actually some shortcuts allowed as long as you don't touch the fully colored cones or go to far out. (Example: The Intersection in the middle, you can actually go either way in and out but don't touch the orange cone.) Tip 3: Draft! You can't catch up without drafting because you are using the same car and configuration as everyone else.
