Part 2: www.youtube.com Introduction Hi everybody, and welcome to this video on CL -- short for Categorized Lucene. CL is a project I did in the Summer of 2011 for CSCI 572 - Information Retrieval and Web Search Engines. I took this course under Professor Chris Mattmann, at Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California. The primary objective of the project is to present a Proof of Concept -- a prototype for returning category relevant search results. CL is an extension to the webap demo that comes along with Apache Lucene binaries. Apache Lucene is an open source search software provided by the Apache Software Foundation. I used the Java version of Lucene-3.0.1. You can find the detailed download, build and configuration instructions at the lucene portal (lucene.apache.org Presently CL works on Microsoft Windows box with pre-crawled WebPages. I use Apache Tomcat as the Web server and MySQL for storing the category database. Architecture Let's now take a quick glimpse at CL's architecture. As you can see the whole project builds upon 10 major blocks -- Search Query, Search Category, Category Database, Keyterms, Query Maker, Appended Query, HTML Dump, Index, Searcher and Results. Let's take a deeper look at the individual components. 1. Search Query This is the text that the user types in the search-box. CL supports all the native query options available in Lucene search like Boolean operators, wildcards, proximity search etc. More details: lucene.apache <b>...</b>
