Frankie Lymon - Little Bitty Pretty One (Original)

"Little Bitty Pretty One" was written and first recorded by Bobby Day in 1957. But that same year Thurston Harris covered it and took the song all the way to #6 on the pop charts. The song has been covered many times since and even the following year in 1958, Frankie Lymon, out on his own and split with The Teenagers recorded a version quite similar to Thurston's.

Frankie Lymon - Fortunate Fellow

Frankie Lymon (1942-1968) and the Teenagers were a New York doo wop group consisting of Joe Negroni, Herman Santiago, Jimmy Merchant, and Sherman Garnes, but centered around the extraordinary talents of their lead singer, 13-year-old Frankie Lymon. Lymon was credited with their first big hit, "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" (in the early '90s, a federal judge ruled after a lengthy trial that Lymon hadn't written "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" -- another member of the Teenagers had). His wise-beyond-his-years vocal and performing abilities not only made the Teenagers a group several notches above the competition but made Lymon the first black teenage pop star. Though only together for a brief 18-month period, Lymon & the Teenagers exerted an enormous influence, spawning several "kid" vocal groups and providing initial inspiration to Berry Gordy to model his entire Motown production approach around Lymon's original vocal style. Inexplicably, the group split into two factions at the height of their success, and neither had a hit again. Lymon died from a drug overdose at age 26. Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Len Barry, and his principal protégé, Michael Jackson (whose early recordings with the Jackson 5 are virtual re-creations of the early Lymon sound, merely updated) all show the influence of Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers' groundbreaking work. ~ Cub Koda, All Music GuidePLEASE NOTE: I divided my uploads between multiple channels, Bookmark this link in your browser for instant ...

Rock Rock Rock - Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers

The Teenagers are an American integrated doo wop group, most noted for being one of rock music's earliest successes, presented to international audiences by DJ Alan Freed. The group, which made its most popular recordings with young Frankie Lymon as lead singer, is also noted for being rock's first all-teenaged act. The Teenagers had their origins in The Earth Angels, a group founded at Edward W. Stitt Junior High School in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan by second tenor Jimmy Merchant and bass Sherman Garnes. Eventually, Garnes and Merchant had added lead singer Herman Santiago and baritone Joe Negroni to their lineup and evolved into The Coupe De Villes. In 1955, thirteen-year-old Frankie Lymon joined the Coupe De Villes, who changed their name to first the Ermines and later The Premiers. The same year Lymon joined the group, he helped Santiago and Merchant rewrite a song they'd composed to create "Why Do Fools Fall In Love". The song got the Teenagers an audition with George Goldner's Gee Records, but Santiago was too sick to sing lead on the day of the audition. Lymon sung the lead on "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" instead, and the group was signed to Gee as The Teenagers, with Lymon as lead singer. "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" was The Teenagers first and biggest hit. The group, known for both their harmony and choreography, also had hits with "I'm Not a Juvenile Delinquent" and "The ABCs of Love". By 1957, the group was being billed as "Frankie Lymon and the ...

Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers - Why Do Fools Fall in Love - 1957

LISTEN LIVE to RadioCarino - audiorealm.com Franklin Joseph "Frankie" Lymon (September 30, 1942 -- February 27, 1968) was an American rock and roll/rhythm and blues singer and songwriter, best known as the boy soprano lead singer of a New York City-based early rock and roll group, The Teenagers. The group was composed of five boys, all in their early to mid teens. The original lineup of the Teenagers, an integrated group, included three African American members, Frankie Lymon, Jimmy Merchant and Sherman Garnes, and two Puerto Rican members, Herman Santiago and Joe Negroni. The Teenagers' first single, 1956's "Why Do Fools Fall in Love", was also their biggest hit. After Lymon went solo in mid-1957, both his career and those of the Teenagers fell into decline. At age 25, he was found dead in his grandmother's bathroom from a heroin overdose.[1] His life inspired the 1998 film, Why Do Fools Fall In Love?.

Frankie Lymon - I`m not a juvenile delinquent. From the 1956Rock and Roll movie: Rock Rock Rock. Here`sa film that is reminiscent of Grease but ten times more authentic, almost a musical documentary of the Fabulous 50`s, the nostalgic era of black leather jackets, poodle skirts, rah-rah cheerleaders and prom Queens. The film was made at the height of Alan Freed`s career, shortly before his spectacular downfall as a result of the disc jockey payola scandal. The authentic Rock and Roll, Rock-a-Billy, Doo wop and Big Beat sound from the 50`s makes this film such an Oldie but goodie. Rock Rock Rock. Also known as: El rey del Rock and Roll Release date: 07 December 1956

Lewis LYMON & The Teenchords " Your Last Chance " !!!

RARE OLDIES VIDEO WITH MR LEWIS LYMON & THE TEENCHORDS ! Lewis was the third of the Lymon brothers (Howie and Frankie were older; Timmy was the youngest); he was all of 12 years old in 1956. The group that coalesced around Lewis' lead tenor consisted of Rossilio Rocca (second tenor), Lyndon Harold (baritone), and David Little (bass). When it came time for a name, it wasn't a big leap from "Teenagers" to "Teenchords." Rossilio was the oldest (at 19), David was 17, and Lyndon was 15. They were an integrated group: Lewis and David were black, Lyndon was white, and Rossilio was Hispanic. But there was something missing from their sound: a first tenor. Lyndon had a friend named Ralph Vaughn, whom he thought would be a good candidate. He arranged for 13-year-old Ralph to audition one evening in early June, 1956. The day of the audition, however, the Teenchords, with Ralph in tow, went to the Apollo Theater (walking the two miles from 165th to 125th Street) to see the Teenagers (this would have been sometime during the week of June 8). They were hanging out behind the theater, when all of a sudden, Charles Sampson (lead of the Red Robin Velvets and a friend of Ralph's) wandered by. Sampson mentioned that Bobby Robinson (who owned Red Robin) was looking for acts to record and manage. Were these guys Ralph's group? Well, you don't let a chance like that go by, and suddenly Ralph, without having sung a note, was touted by Lyndon as their new first tenor. Bobby Robinson's store ...
