Although Frankie's accompanying vocalists, The Teenagers, are credited on this recording (and pictured in the video), the reality is that by the time Frankie put this song on record, he had split with The Teenagers and gone solo. The song was composed in 1936 by Matty Malneck with lyrics by the irrepresible Johnny Mercer, and first popularized by the Benny Goodman Orchestra with vocalist Helen Ward doing the honors. Ella Fitzgerald soon thereafter also had a hit with it. "Goody, Goody" was Top 20 in August of 1957 for this troubled early rock and roll star.

"Little Bitty Pretty One" was written and first recorded by Bobby Day in 1957. But that same year Thurston Harris covered it and took the song all the way to #6 on the pop charts. The song has been covered many times since and even the following year in 1958, Frankie Lymon, out on his own and split with The Teenagers recorded a version quite similar to Thurston's.
