sweet love by wAhu (kenyAn bAby)

2008 is the year of the ladies, led by wahu here in this amazing joint titled sweet love, i thought the song was dedicated to her hubby, nameless but seems like its actually for their daughter, Tomiso. the video has been done by newcomers, alternative concepts who are behind the video for the mega hit salari by nameless and mambo bado by wahu. the colors definitely bring forth the warmth and diversity of the kenyan sound and the muliticultural experience that is kenya. the layout is simple, its a perfomance video with scenes of her daughter playing around in the house. wahu is next to her and watches over her. she later on falls down and wahu picks her up and comforts her, she cries for a while and once in her mom's arms, she relaxes and starts smiling and playing again. now. its her pledging to be there for her daughter always and to comfort her whenever she is in pain. the lovely message is amplified by a lovely performance of the beautiful wahu and her bandmates in a shed. through the whole video a distinct african feel is present. it reminds me of home and the sweet memories of childhood. bottom line..........wahu is amazing and beautiful too!!!!!!! i love this song and its the best out there right now! www.liwani.com

Orchestre Makassy - Cisca Pts 1 & 2 [ Mose Fan Fan] 1981

he late seventies and early eighties were an extremely creative time for Zairean groups. This period corresponded with the beginnings of Europe's interest in African music. During this time there was a continuing flow of Tanzanian musicians visiting Kenya to record and perform. The Tanzanian variety of rumba music was extremely popular and widely accessible through radio and records in Kenya. Many stellar groups and recordings emerged from the Kenyan music scene, such as Orchestra Super Mazembe, Orchestra Mitimila (later Super Mitimila) and the Dar es Salaam-based Tanzanian-Zairean soukous band Orchestra Makassy, led by Kitenzogu "Mzee" Makassy. The group included some of the most famous names in 'Tanzanian music, such as Mose Se Senga aka 'Fan Fan', Remmy Ongala and Tshimanga Assossa. The group's leader, Mzee Makassy was born in the early I940s, in a remote village in East Zaire. As a teenager he played bass in college groups. In 1967 he moved to Kampala and for years played regularly at the city's international hotel. He spent a year in Europe, mainly in ltaly. In 1975 he formed Orchestra Makassy with Ugandan and Zairean musicians in Kampala. Driven into Tanzanian exile by Idi Amin's regime the Orchestra Makassy established local status through exhaustive performing. They played six nights a week to maintain subsistence, performing their shows with sober and workmanlike persistence, be it at local dance clubs or classier hotel functions.

Vinginevyo tunadanganyana. Nyerere mwenyewe alikiri kwamba ujamaa ulishindwa. CCM ni wajamaa kuliko Nyerere? Anauliza Mchungaji Munishi. Thename Bongo Flava comes from the Swahili word for brains (connoting smarts or intelligence), which is ubongo. Bongo is the slang nickname for Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania, and the former capital. The streets of Dar es Salaam is where Tanzanian hip-hop and R&B was born, thus the name of the genre literally translates to the flava from Dar es Salaam.
