Archuleta Mesa and Dulce, New Mexico - simple directions
The Best Western Hotel is located on the east side of Hawks Rd. at Hwy 64. Across from the Hotel on the west side of Hawks Rd. is the Jicarilla Apache administration building. Hawks Rd. going north becomes River Rd. A small bridge goes over the Navajo River. From there you can see the communication towers above the mesa. After crossing the bridge, River Rd. becomes J-2 Rd., a dirt road. J-2 Rd. is the road at the foothills of Archuleta Mesa. J-2 Rd. becomes J-9 Rd. To get to Mt. Archuleta (one of 2 suspected bases on the Mesa), the best way from the Hotel is to go west on Hwy 64, past Hawkes. It becomes Jicarilla Rd. Then instead of continuing on to Hwy 64 by turning left, just keep going west on Jicarilla Rd., which becomes Narrow Gage Rd. Then make a right on J-2 Rd. 4 Wheeling @ Table Mesa in Arizona (1991 Nissan Pathfinder)
This was some utility road/trail on the west side of Table Mesa Rd in AZ. It's hard to tell but I'd say it was a 30 to 40 degree incline. My ride is basically all stock. I have longer shocks in the rear and my rear sway bar is disconnected on one side. Other than that it's a 20 year old truck holding it's own on some pretty hairy terrain.
