At a recent press conference, the Dallas Sidekicks professional soccer team announced "We're Back!" with the first home game set for November 3 at Allen Event Center. Sidekick legend Tatu made the announcement as Co-Owner, General Manager and Head Coach of the team. "I am so excited to announce that we're back! We have the most loyal and passionate fans, and they are going to be proud of the team we put on the field in November," said Tatu. Along with Tatu, the new ownership team consists of long-time DFW sports executive Ronnie Davis, who is Majority Owner, President and CEO, former Sidekicks Owner Sonny Williams, and former Sidekicks General Manager Jim Tolbert, who will also serve as Vice President of Ticketing. Season tickets are available now by calling 214.550.6130, and individual game tickets go on sale May 7 at ticketmaster.com. The Sidekicks also announced that MetroPCS will sponsor the team's jerseys. The Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) championship trophy was re-named the "Newman Cup" in a special halftime presentation on January 10, 2011 as the San Diego Sockers took on the Anaheim Bolts. The Milwaukee Wave suffered their third loss of the season before the largest home crowd of the season. The last regular season home game saw end-to-end action between the Milwaukee Wave and Missouri Comets with the Comets winning 17-14. The Wave battled back in this fast paced, aggressive game but fell short. The Milwaukee Wave got on the board first capitalizing on a powerplay after Ryan Junge was sent to the penalty box for obstruction. Giuliano Oliviero scored from close range off a Greg Howes assist. The Comets had their own powerplay after an Oliviero penalty for tripping. The Comets' Lucas Rodriquez quickly took advantage of the powerplay and tied up the game. The Wave answered immediately as Pablo scored on a second-effort giving the Wave a 4-2 lead. Nick Perera struck 13 seconds later for the Wave increasing their lead to 6-2. The intense, fast paced action continued when Ryan Junge of the Comets cut the Wave's lead to 6-4 where it would stand at the end of the first quarter. The Comets came out aggressive during the second quarter. They went on their second powerplay of the day early in the second quarter as the Wave was called for a penalty for too many men on the field. The Wave killed the poweplay however Comets Geison scored a 3-point goal quickly thereafter giving the Comets their first lead of the game at 7-6. The Comets struck again with a goal by Neto and finished with half with an Assadpour goal as the Comets take a five point lead at 13-8. The Wave <b>...</b>

Joe Hammes scored off a restart 46 seconds into overtime to give the Milwaukee Wave a 12-10 overtime victory and the 2012 MISL Championship with a 2-0 series victory against the Baltimore Blast on Sunday evening at US Cellular Arena in Milwaukee. The championship was the Wave's second in a row, and sixth overall in the club's history, with Marcio Leite earning the series' Most Valuable Player award after scoring five goals in the two games. The Wave's opportunity came after Blast forward Machel Millwood played a ball over the boards while trying to clear from his own end. After taking timeout to set up a play, Marco Terminesi swooped in from the right side to play the ball to Hammes on the left, and his first time, right-footed shot curled into the right corner of the net, sending the crowd of 5243 into celebration. The Blast opened on the front foot, taking a 4-0 lead within the first 2 minutes, 44 seconds as first Ptah Myers drilled a rebound off the end boards into the roof of the net and then Millwood stripped a defender and fired between Wave goalkeeper Marcel Feenstra's legs from the right side. The game was a physical one, with Leite and Pat Healey being sent to the penalty box for coincidental minors after a coming-together in the Blast end, and before those penalties expired Baltimore's Scott Buete was also sent to the box, giving the Wave a 4-on-3 power play.
