Malalai Joya: US acts like Rambo killing already dead Bin Laden

RT sits down with a former Afghan MP-turned human rights champion. Malalai Joya braves death threats and assassination attempts to expose what she calls the dark side of life in her country. Joya claims the NATO occupation has only brought more suffering to the people of Afghanistan. She says her country is suffering from three evils at the moment: overwhelming corruption of the regime, indiscriminate violence of the occupational force and regional warlords whose actions differ little from those of the Taliban.

10 Years! Malalai Joya on Women in Afghanistan

"History shows that no nation can bring liberation to another nation." We just edited this video using archive material I shot with Malalai in September 2007, when she visited Berlin on invitation of the LEFT party parliamentary group in Germany. Bush has been replaced by Obama, but nothing has really changed, and Malalai is saying the same things today: www.malalaijoya.com/movies/mj_message_oct7_2011.mp4 It is up to us to make the change! See also "The 'war on terror' is a mockery!" an Interview by Elsa Rassbach for on September 22, 2007 in Berlin published in Znet www.malalaijoya.com and republished in 2010 in "The Case for Withdrawal from Afghanistan" Edited by Nick Turse, a Verso book books.wwnorton.com Malalai Joya was born on April 25, 1978, in the Farah Province, in western Afghanistan. Her father was a former medical student who lost a leg while fighting in the Soviet war in Afghanistan. In 1982, when she was 4 years old, her family fled Afghanistan to live as refugees in neighboring Iran: "I started working as an activist when I was very young, grade 8. When I started working amongst our people, especially women, it was so enjoyable for me. I learned a lot from them, even though they were not educated. Before I started, I want to tell you, I didn't know anything about politics. I learned from people who were non-educated, non-political people who belonged to a political situation. Afghan Antiwar Activist Malalai Joya Calls for an End to the Occupation of Afghanistan by US & NATO

DemocracyNow.org - Democracy Now! interviews former Afghan member of parliament and antiwar activist, Malalai Joya, who just arrived to the United States for a book tour, days after the Obama administration initially denied her a travel visa. The situation in Afghanistan is changing as US-led NATO forces in Afghanistan fear increasing opposition after photographs of US troops posing over dead Afghan civilians were published last week by German news magazine Der Spiegel and broadcast by Democracy Now!. Rolling Stone magazine has just published 18 additional images. The photographs are graphic and have been compared to images that emerged from the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. The soldiers in the photographs are on trial for forming a secret "kill team" in Afghanistan that murdered unarmed Afghan civilians at random and collected body parts. NATO air strikes have also recently led to more than 15 civilian deaths in the past month. Apology of US Sergeant Matthis Chiroux to Malalai Joya.flv

US Sergeant Matthis Chiroux, 25, was in military service for many years before he came to the conclusion that the wars and occupations in Iraq and in Afghanistan are wrong and found the courage to speak out. Since last summer he has been a key activist in the US veterans' organization, Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). From April 1st to 5th, Chiroux and Malalai Joya joined peace activists in Germany and France to speak out against NATO and the war and occupation in Afghanistan. On April 4th, at a large demonstration in Strasbourg, France, Chiroux planned to publicly apologize to Afghan peace activist Malalai Joya for participating in the occupation of her country; however, before he could do so, the demonstration was disrupted by attacks of the French police. He made his apology instead on April 5, 2009, at the NATO Congress in Strasbourg. Matthis Chiroux: I want to tell you, Malalai, how sorry I am for the violence that my Army has done to your people, to your country. I want to apologize to you for the role that I played in it. Malalai Joya: And I want to tell you that it is your government that must apologize first of all to great people like you: they are deceiving you and they use you for not a good cause; they use you for a war. Afghan member of parliament Malalai Joya speaks in Jamaica Plain

Malalai Joya, author of A Woman Among Warlords: The Extraordinary Story of a Woman Who Dared Raise Her Voice At a constitutional assembly in Kabul in 2003, Malalai Joya stood up and denounced her country's powerful US/NATO-backed warlords. She was only 25 years old. Two years later, she became the youngest person elected to Afghanistan's new Parliament. In 2007, she was suspended for her persistent criticism of the warlords and drug barons. Beloved by her people for daring to speak out against US-backed war criminals that dominate the government, Joya has survived at least four assassination attempts. Having come face-to-face with the brutality of war, Joya has been demanding an end to the occupation for years. In her book "A Woman Among Warlords", just out in paperback, Joya explains the situation of ordinary Afghans: "We are caught between two enemies-the Taliban on one side and the US/NATO forces and their warlords allies on the other."

Malalai Joya (born April 25, 1978) is an Afghan parliamentarian who has been called "the bravest woman in Afghanistan." In May 2007, Joya was suspended from the parliament on the grounds that she had insulted fellow representatives in a television interview. **A day in afghan history "malalai ana" 27th of July**

Join us on Facebook: www.facebook.com Our webiste: www.afghans.eu While in Britain, no one has heard of her, in Afghanstan Malalai (or Malala) is a legend. Smaller facts in the story vary slightly, but although it is Ayub Khan who became known as the Victor of Maiwand, it is said that it was Malalai who actually saved the day. She was a native of Khig, a tiny village on the edge of the Maiwand battlefield, and the daughter of a Shepard. Both her father and fiancée joined with Ayub's army in the attack on the British on July 27th 1880 (which some say was also her wedding day), and like many women, Malalai was there to help tend to the wounded and provide water and spare weapons. Eventually there came a point in the battle where the Afghan army, despite their superior numbers, started to lose morale and the tide seemed to be turning in favor of the British. Seeing this, Malalai took off her veil and shouted out "Young love! If you do not fall in the battle of Maiwand, By God, someone is saving you as a symbol of shame!" This gave many of the Afghan fighters and ghazis a new resolve and they redoubled their efforts. At that moment one of the leading flag-bearers fell from a British bullet, and Malalai went forward and held up the flag (some versions say she made a flag out of her veil), singing a landai: "With a drop of my sweetheart's blood, Shed in defense of the Motherland, Will I put a beauty spot on my forehead, Such as would put to shame the rose in the garden," But ...

Malalai Joya Speaks at Anti-War Rally, Dolores Park, San Francisco, CA (10 April 2011)

Malalai Joya, Afghan feminist (and youngest person ever elected to the Afghan parliament), speaks at the rally. Her status as a feminist/human rights activist and as an outspoken critic of the rampant corruption in the Afghan government (and its collusion with shady US interests) has gotten her suspended from Parliament and made her a target for death back home in Afghanistan--she lives underground there. She's also been a fierce opponent and critic of Obama and his escalation of US war in Afghanistan since his inauguration, and ~coincidentally~, the US State Dept recently tried to refuse her entry into the US for a book/speaking tour until public outcry made them cave in. Apologies in advance as the first half-minute or so of Joya's comments are not recorded.
