A remake of Herschell Gordon Lewis's 1960s gory classic, TWO THOUSAND MANIACS!, 2001 MANIACS follows a group of Northern college kids lured into the Southern town of Pleasant Valley to take part in the "Guts and Glory Jubilee," a celebration of the glory days of Dixie. Soon enough, they realize that the "guts" might turn out to be their own, as the crazed Southerners, led by Mayor Buckman (Robert Englund), have planned festivities that involve killing and consuming the Yankee kids.

"Yeeeeee-Ha! Oh, the South's gonna rise again!" So goes HERSCHELL GORDON LEWIS' great, banjo-powered theme song to the second installment of the infamous "gore trilogy." And while Two Thousand Maniacs! may not be as rudely in-your-face as Blood Feast, it is a much more accomplished and effective picture, one which still has the power to make first-time viewers squirm uncomfortably in their seats. Essentially a macabre version of Brigadoon, Two Thousand Maniacs! sees the southern residents of Pleasant Valley seeking vengeance for Civil War atrocities by capturing two carloads of northerners and subjecting them to a variety of ingenious and stomach-turning tortures. Among the grisly highlights are a blonde sexpot (SHELBY LIVINGSTON) having her thumb sliced off by a muscle-bound hayseed, after which the demented townsfolk treat her wound by chopping off her entire arm! While her arm is being served up as barbecue(!), her husband JEROME EDEN is liquored up with moonshine, then drawn and quartered by four horses which gallop off in different directions. - Something Weird

The Maniacs were one of the finest english punk bands of 1977 formed in 1976 by lead guitarist Alan Lee Shaw who was part of several other bands such as the Rings and the Physicals. Drummer Rod Latter and Robert Crash on bass joined him to form this 3 piece band unfairly underrated. Throughout the fury of punk the short lived punk-band split in 1978 after a last performance at the Gibus Club in Paris. "Chelsea 77",released in 1977 was the first and the only single ever released by the band, backed by "Ain't no legend".

Dnepropetrovsk maniacs sentencing with reactions from parents and victims familes. Here is basically what is said in the video...... Igor Suprunyuck and Victor Sayenko were both found guilty of 21 murders and sentenced to life in prison, Alexander Hanzah was sentenced to 9 years for armed robbery and assault. They captured much of their crimes on cell phones and took many pictures. Thousands of police and millions of dollars were spent on the search for the killers. They took extra time to humiliate the victims. The mother of one victime says that she is upset with the verdict (im guessing she wants them dead). The fathers of Suprunyuck and Sayenko maintain their innocence and isnsit the videos and pictures were doctored and that their sons were "set up" and the crimes were commited by the children of high level governemnt officials, Mr. Suprunyuck said that they will launch an appeal (which they did in November '09 but the verdict stayed the same).
