US Open Snowboard Championship Slopestyle Battle 2011 - Willet vs. McMorris Eric Willet and Mark McMorris battle it out in the last runs of the Slopestyle. Before that Eric Willet gives us the low-down on the next day's upcomng US Open Slopestyle Comp and gives a shout out to his home mountain of Breckenridge, CO. Mark McMorris, third classified at the finals of the River Jump, turns up half ride. 24-26 February marked the fourth edition of the Burn River Jump, the only European 5 star TTR event of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard tour. Organised by Burton Snowboards (www.burton.it) at the Swatch Mottolino Snowpark in Livigno Italy, Burn River Jump is a unique showdown where the 10 finalists of the 5Star Slopestyle Contest compete against 8 invited riders of international acclaim. The innovative course, created by DOORS Snowpark Structures, included a huge Jump gap over the Spoel river and a host of Burn structures specifically designed for the event. Crowd favourite Yale Cousino (USA) took out first place. Riders from all over the world will battle it out, Big Air style, in front of a massive crowd of snowboard fans to win the infamous Ring Of Glory. Chas Guldemond was the guy to beat in Snowbasin after dishing out back-to-back 12s and just looking perfect with his riding. But Eric Willett paid no attention and came back with the highest scoring slope run in Winter Dew Tour history, and later said, "I realized I do good under pressure." Willett scored a 97.25 after a 5050 to backside lipslide on the first rail, to boardslide switch up frontside boardslide on the A-frame, then frontside boardslide 450 out on the cannon. He blasted both the jumps with a switch backside 12 double cork to frontside 10 double cork.

Canadian rider, Mark McMorris, and American, Jamie Anderson, took the first 5Star Slopestyle titles of the 2011/12 TTR World Tour season at the 2011 Burton New Zealand Open. The slopestyle finals went down at Cardrona Alpine Resort with optimal weather conditions making for some great riding. All riders who competed in slopestyle at the New Zealand Open have all earned ranking points towards both the TTR Slopestyle Tour Rankings and the TTR Overall Tour Ranking lists. The competition was run using a best-of-three-run format with women and men alternating on each run. The women took to the course first and it was an immediate battle between two-time TTR World Tour Champion, Jamie Anderson, and Norwegian competition queen, Kjersti Buaas. Jamie held the lead all day and won with a run that included a switch backside 180 tailtap, a front blunt to fakie and a half Cab 5-0 to backside 180 on the jib section and a switch backside 540, frontside 360 and a backside 540 on the jump line. Kjersti came in a close second and Jordie Karlinski (USA) took home third place. The men took the last run of the day and Mark McMorris won the title with a run that consisted of a full Cab stall, Cab 270 frontboard to fakie and a half Cab to backside 360 in the jib section and a backside double cork 1080, frontside 900 and ended with a Cab 1260 on the jump line. Fellow Canadian, Sebastien Toutant, was right behind Mark in second place and Norwegian up-and-comer, Stale Sandbech rounded out the <b>...</b>

On December 3rd 2011 the Oakley and Shaun White Air & Style was hosted in one of the most spectacular venues of todays time, the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing. The world's top snowboarders competed for the Ring of Glory. Norwegian Ulrik Badertscher won. 2nd place went to Torstein Horgmo and Stale Sandbech took the 3rd place on the podium.
