Hong Kong Beat

Hong Kong Beat Richard Denton and Martin Cook. From the BBC tv series shown in the late 70s. A series I remember for how shocking and gritty it was! Hope they release it on DVD. More info: 9 episodes shown 1978/03/01 - 1978/04/26. I've composed the video myself trying to use similar footage and using videos commonly found on youtube. This is the 7 inch vinyl version released by the BBC. It differs from the televised version as it has no background noises like car horns or sirens etc. I converted the vinyl to digital then took out most of the clicks and pops. Enjoy.

The Inspirations - God Is Still On His Throne

This fantastic song was a huge radio hit for The Inspirations from their 1986 album "Tell It To A Friend". This song is interesting because it sounds like producer Martin Cook uses some multi-tracking of Archie and Troy's voices here. It's also interesting that the cover art only features three singers. Some songs on the album sound like a trio, but there is a track (I Don't Have To See The Tomb) that features Jack Laws. Around this time, Laws left the group and was replaced by Ronnie Hutchins. In 1986 The Inspirations were: Archie Watkins (Tenor) Troy Burns (Lead) Mike Holcomb (Bass) Martin Cook (Piano) Myron Cook (Upright Bass)

The Inspirations - Jesus Is Mine (Left Channel Audio)

Left Channel audio only of The Inspiration performance of "Jesus Is Mine" from the live album " A Night of Inspiration" in 1976. Here, you hear the magic of the Inspirations: Archie and Troy working side-by-side. Here, hear them in a live element which, of course bring their voices out even further. Also, listen to the fine job that Martin Cook does on piano. He really starts leaning on that thing toward the end and in the encore. Finally, check out the subtle steel pedal work of Dale Jones. His playing always added so much to the Inspiration sound. The encore is a 5-alarm fire of holy spirit. Gives me chills EVERY time I listen. You can tell that this was their jam. They really come out of their shoes performing this one. I think their performance of this song on this night may be the recorded pinnacle of this incredible group. I'll upload Original Stereo, and Remixed Stereo versions of "Jesus Is Mine" soon! Right Channel video already up and running. Thanks for listening! Included on the Left Channel are: Archie Watkins, Tenor Troy Burns, Lead Dale Jones, Steel Pedal Guitar Martin Cook, Piano Jack Laws, Upright Bass (split to both channels)

The Inspirations Jesus Is Coming Soon

This is The Inspirations popular take on this all-time southern gospel classic. This song has remained a staple in the group's set list for decades. The album is a live recording from the annual "Singing in the Smokies" Festival that took place outdoors at Inspirations Park near Bryson City, NC until this past year. This was the second of two live recordings released in 1981 on the Inspirations Records label, from the festival. It was the Inspirations fourth live album and last until 2010. ...and, as you can see, the record belongs to "Alvin". The Inspirations in 1981 were: Archie Watkins (Tenor) Troy Burns (Lead) Mike Holcomb (Bass) Jack Laws (Baritone) Martin Cook (Piano) Roger Fortner (Guitars) Dale Jones (Steel)
