Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994) trailer

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein grunted to the circuit in 1994. Made by Columbia, Kenneth Branagh sought to remake Mary Shelley's clasic book Frankenstein. Unfortunately, poor casting choices (Robert Deniro as The Monster?!?) and a sub-par script sent this film into the giant holes of mediocrity. But the trailer sold it well AND kicked ass.

"Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley -- SYMBOLS -- from 60second Recap®

[ Sound like a genius ... in 60 seconds.™ www.60secondrecap.com ] Mary Shelley's mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, was a pioneering feminist, so it's not surprising that "Frankenstein" has quite a bit to say about women and society. But you won't hear Shelley's feminist message from the women in "Frankenstein." No, you'll find it in the monster himself.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein - Love Theme (The Wedding Night) (Piano Solo Transcription)

What a tragic movie, what a tragic theme! Yes, it is a horror movie indeed, but there are also romantic and sad moments in this great film adaption. And here's now one of this themes composed by Patrick Doyle. You can hear it many times in the movie, for example in the scene where Elizabeth plays it herself on the piano (this is the transcription of this scene music), Victor's creature on the recorder or in the wedding night scene. Btw: I play here from a transcription I made some times ago. I think there's no sheet music on the market. (Played by me on a Kawai MP4. Sound is a sampled Steinway grand piano from SampleTekk.)

"Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley -- CONTEXT -- from 60second Recap®

[ Sound like a genius ... in 60 seconds.™ www.60secondrecap.com ] Mary Shelley's manuscript pages for "Frankenstein" were edited by her husband, the great Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. The influence of the Romantic era can be seen on Frankenstein's every page. The writers of the Romantic era were not so much interested in romance as in nature — and of the place of human beings in the natural order of things. Which makes "Frankenstein," in its own way, the ultimate "romantic" novel.

Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley (Illustrated by Lynd Ward)

Lynd Ward (1905 - 1985) was an American artist best known for his wood engravings — in particular, his novels without words, in which he tells a story entirely through woodcuts. His style combines Art Deco with German Expressionism. Ward's woodcuts illustrated a 1934 edition of Frankenstein, published in New York by Harrison Smith and Robert Haas. These are outstanding, not only for excellence and power of design, but especially for insights into a disturbing and powerfully poetic work. More than any other illustrator, Ward grasped the ambivalence with which the author of Frankenstein portrayed the "monster" (also called "Being", "creature", "fiend", "demon", "wretch", and "devil"). As seen by Lynd Ward, the Being is both pathetic and terrifying; his body is both athletic and deformed. You can pity him, sympathize and even identify with him, without quite wishing to hold his hand or let him cry on your shoulder. Music by Shostakovich, 'String Quartet no.8'.
Fierce Females: Mary Shelley by LYSISTRATA JONES

Learn about Mary Shelley, the creator of Frankenstein with LYSISTRATA JONES. The Athens University basketball team hasn't won a game in 30 years. But when irresistible transfer student Lysistrata Jones dares the squad's fed-up girlfriends to stop "giving it up" to their boyfriends until they win a game, their legendary losing streak could be coming to an end. In this new pop musical comedy, Lyssie J. and her girl-power posse give Aristophanes' classic comedy a sexy, modern twist and find that abstinence truly does make the heart grow fonder. After a sold-out downtown run, LYSISTRATA JONES arrives on Broadway with an infectiously feel-good original score, genre-defying choreography and a genuinely hilarious book from three-time Tony®-nominated playwright Douglas Carter Beane (The Little Dog Laughed), composer and lyricist Lewis Flinn (The Divine Sister) and Tony®-nominated director and choreographer Dan Knechtges (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee).
