On December 14, 2007 Transportation Research Center Inc. conducted a frontal Motor Coach crash test for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations (NHTSA) Vehicle Research and Test Center (VRTC) in order to obtain the crash pulse from a severe frontal crash event, obtain dummy injury data for various conditions, and to study passenger seat and seat attachment strength. The 2000 MCI 102EL3 Renaissance Series, made by Motor Coach Industries (MCI) was, a 54 seat bus, weighing 42720 pounds (test weight). The Motor Coach crashed into the barrier at 30.36 mph, with 22 instrumented crash dummies (belted and unbelted). Several on and off board high-speed cameras documented the crash test event. Over 400 data channels were recorded at 12500 Hz. VRTC is a federal research facility located onsite at TRC (the Center). The staff conducts research and vehicle testing in support of NHTSAs mission to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce traffic-related health care, and other economic costs. The research and development activities are performed to produce safer vehicles through improved vehicle performance, improved occupant protection systems, improved structural integrity of vehicles, increased understanding of driver behavior, and the use of intelligent systems to enhance drivers ability to avoid crashes and travel safely.

In May of 1993 I was on vacation in the States and one of the things we did was go on a Star Trek cruise (Seatrek 93). Among the guest stars were James Doohan and George Takei. I do not remember who of the two said it, but we fans were told of plans to do this spot and that everyone except Mr. Nimoy had already signed on for it. Since the company would do the commercial only with all of them on board, we were told to keep our fingers crossed. MTA Bus Exclusive! On-Board MCI D4500CT 2248 On The BM2 Part Three **Special Appearance Made By Yukon's MCI D4500CT 2221 On The X15!** My longest video ever recorded! The newest coach fleet to be in service.....FINALLY! These MCIs were in Eastchester Depot for about 4-5 months now and they are finally in their respective depots. They were not in service before because of an EPA Violation, so these buses had to be slightly modified. Some of these are in Yukon Depot while others are being shipped out to Spring Creek and possibly College Point. On June 9th, 2009, 5 of these were in service, 2246 to 2251 under MTA Bus running from Spring Creek Depot. Yukon Depot had CTs up to 2223 into service. More videos will be posted soon as I will be looking long and hard for these!

A video update on work underway to my 1978 MCI MC-8 Motorcoach. Once finished inside, the bus is to be painted to resemble Air Force One, like Ground force One pictured in the video. The stainless steel on the sides of the bus will be polished to a mirror like finish as on the old 707 version that carried the Presidents up to Ronald Reagan. Eight polised Alcoa aluminum wheels will be installed as well, and I should then have one of the most unique motorhomes at the camp ground. Thanks for watching.

Okay, a new update on the MC-8. Took it on vacation and had a great time. Bus still isnt done yet, lots of trim and furniture to buy, I just put some in there to use it on the trip. Bus still needs to be completed outside as well. I repainted the wheels, until I get polished alcoa rims, and it will get a total paint job later next year or so. The MC-8 didnt do bad on fuel either, it averaged 11mpg which is 2mpg better than the class C motorhome I used to have. Why have "buslike" when you can have the real thing?

This was a real treat for me as I, a fan of MCI's have NEVER been on a 8V71 bus before! And a MC9 to top it off!!! We were in Lakewood, NJ at the Bus Museum when the owner of this MCI was going on a pizza run, that's when we were invited to tag along on this beast!! And MAN what a beast she was! The 1st part takes us to Pizza Hut, messing with the transmission and beyond, hearing the reactions from people! The 2nd part is more laid back, as we just enjoyed the ride on this classic! It was cut short at the end cuz of some things that were said that woulda been inappropriate for YT!! Do not want no drama! Anyways, enjoy the ride!
