MerleFest 25 - Sam Bush Band with Special Guests Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks

This video features The Sam Bush Band with Special Guests Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks performing Bell Bottom Blues by Derek and the Dominos, Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones (5:23) and Up on Cripple Creek by The Band (12:15) on the Doc and Merle Watson Stage at MerleFest 25. My apologies for not catching the beginning of Bell Bottom Blues; my late start was because I was sitting there in awe. This is an incredible musical treat to see Sam, Susan and Derek performing together. It gets even more special when John Cowan and Bela Fleck join in for a tribute to Levon Helm doing The Band's - Up on Cripple Creek. Enjoy! The Sam Bush Band is: Sam Bush - Mandolin, Fiddle, Guitar Stephen Mougin - Guitar Todd Parks - Bass Scott Vestal - Banjo Chris Brown - Drums I do not own or make any copyright claim to the material being performed. Steve Martin is a COMEDIAN and his song is just funny, of course unless your mind is so small and closed you don't understand humor. And he's a pretty good banjo player too!
MerleFest Hillside Album Hour with The Waybacks and Friends - April 2012

The MerleFest 25th Anniversary Hillside Album Hour featuring The Waybacks and friends Sam Bush, John Cowan, Jim Lauderdale, Sarah Dugas, Christian Dugas, Kym Warner and Jens Kruger. The clues for the Hillside Album Hour Guess-A-Thon were: CLUE #1: No way back name, foot to head, live or dead, bred or read. CLUE #2: Don lingered at a bus sign or so we've heard. CLUE #3: Hey Chief, dig the native son! CLUE #4: When the smoke clears, the question lingers. The Album performed was Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced I do not own or make any copyright claim to the material being performed. Captured using my Nikon AW-100

Kruger Brothers perform Appalachian Concerto at MerleFest 2011

The Appalachian Concerto is a work commissioned by the Ashe County Arts Council as part of their program to bring artists together in creative and collaborative ways, providing Ashe County with new and innovative works based in the arts culture of the region. The work highlights the range of the banjo as a solo instrument and showcases Jens Kruger's skills as composer and arranger. Composed in 2010, the Appalachian Concerto is a work for banjo, bass, guitar, and string quartet. Innovative, challenging, and beautiful, the piece takes the ensemble playing the Kruger Brothers are famous for to an entirely new level of musicianship. From the first notes to the last cadence, the piece celebrates Appalachia—the history, the landscape, and the culture—in a way that only the Kruger Brothers can. A recording of the Appalachian Concerto was completed in spring, 2011.
