Classic Game Room HD reviews the first METAL SLUG for the Playstation 2 PS2 video game console. Originally released for the SNK Neo Geo in 1996, Metal Slug has gone on to become one of the premier run n' gun shooters ever created. This version of the game is from the SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1 disc for the PS2. The CGRHD review of Metal Slug has gameplay footage from the PS2 game being played. If you like games like Contra and Metroid then Metal Slug should be right up your alley (more like Contra and Super Contra though). Hand drawn sprites in 2D with a great sense of humor and motion bring Metal Slug off the screen into a frenzied romp through war movie inspired backgrounds filled with mindless enemies waiting to be machine gunned, exploded, set on fire and run over by the Metal Slug tank. While CGR has not played the original Neo Geo MVS version in quite some time, this PS2 emulated game runs smooth and free of any visual defects. Gameplay is terrific using the Playstation 2 dual shock controller and this SNK collection has unlockable items like the Metal Slug music and artwork. While more and more Metal Slug games are seeing release on the Neo Geo Station on the PS3, each game costs $9, but does include online play. With the Metal Slug Anthology you can buy every MS game, minus online play, for $25 on PS2, $20 on Wii, and $30 on PSP. What's not to like about that?

Happy 4th of July! Me and the HogheadDogfacedBoy are doing a Gecko's Guides of Metal Slug for the Neo·Geo. The Review of Metal Slug is in this video. Metal Slug is an Arcade classic, and is literally a very well done game. If you want more replay value, the other ports (ie NeoGeo CD, Sega Saturn, Playstation) have Combat School, Art Galleries, and mission modes that will make you come back to play this game again, and again, and again. Metal Slug is fun, but expensive. If you are looking for the NeoGeo AES port. GOOD LUCK! The price will drive you to complete insanity. But if you have the sanity, and the money to afford this gem, then this game would be HIGHLY recommended. This game is an amazing shooter that is worthy for any Neo Owner's collection.
