Rock Aid Armenia was a humanitarian effort by the British music industry to raise money to help those affected by the Leninakan Earthquake of 1988. This was taken during the re-recording of Smoke on the water which was a collaboration effort from some of rocks elite guitarists including: Ritchie Blackmore, David Gilmour, Tony Iommi, Alex Lifeson, and Brian May. Each guitarist either recorded solos or laid down rhythm tracks for the song. This clip is of Ritchie Blackmore's improvisation solo for Smoke on the water . At the end of the solo note the reaction from these legendary guitarists.. That my friend is respect and speaks volumes about the musicianship of the man, Ritchie Blackmore.

Grinderman is an Australian garage rock band, formed by Nick Cave (vocals, electric guitar, organ, piano), Warren Ellis (electric bouzouki, Fendocastor, violin, viola, acoustic guitar, backing vocals), Martyn P. Casey (bass, acoustic guitar, backing vocals) and Jim Sclavunos (drums, percussion, backing vocals), all of whom are members of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. After heavy touring throughout 2005 in support of Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus, Cave began writing songs on guitar, an instrument he rarely played. His rudimentary playing gave the new material a rawer feel than much of The Bad Seeds' output. The group entered Metropolis Studios in London to record the original Grinderman demos and it was this material that would eventually become the basis for the band's self-titled debut album, which was recorded with long-time friend, producer Nick Launay, in April 2006 at RAK studios, London and mixed in October at Metropolis Studios. Grinderman was released in March 2007 and was applauded by critics for its raw power, similar to that of Cave's celebrated post-punk project The Birthday Party. The band made their live debut at the All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in Somerset, United Kingdom the following month. This was followed by a one-off show at The Forum in London on 20 June.

On September 3rd 2006, Duran Duran entered a scheduled studio session at Manhattan Center Studios in New York joined by producer Timbaland, music assistant and programmer Nate 'Danjahandz' Hills, mix master Jimmy Douglass and engineer Marcella 'Ms. Lago' Araica. One week after, the result was three songs, Nite-Runner, Skin Divers and The Valley, and the core of a different musical prospect. Following excitement to the session, DD opted to put their previous stuff known as "Reportage" on the shelf and build an entirely new album from the ground up. After losing their original guitarist Andy Taylor, the band kept working with Danja and Douglass completing the album in the following months at Sphere Studios and Metropolis Studios in London plus SARM Studios in Manchester. "Red Carpet Massacre" was released on Epic Records in November 2007. While substantially misunderstood by the fans and not properly marketed by the label, the material pictures a contemporary and both quintessential version of Duran Duran, in which they showed to believe supporting it in great shape through a world tour -despite of the charts' failure. After the tour, the band stood by its work and eventually broke their record deal with Sony, moving on with young producer and Duranfan Mark Ronson to write their yet untitled 13th album, featuring some collaboration from Nick Hodgson (Kaiser Chiefs).
