After getting Left 4 Dead 2 as a gift for my birthday back in November I wanted to try running this game in triple monitors mode unfortunately at that I was being lazy. But alas I had some spare time lately. So after many intrusions into the video and after a couple of retries I ended up with this. I did my test run in the opening stages of Parish. The game is run at high with medium shaders, no AA and minimal AF, the game still looks great and runs very smoothly. The SoftTH settings that were used were the same as the ones I used for my first Left 4 Dead video and Team Fortress 2 video. I thought for $23 I would take a chance and see if i could make it work. Well after doing some dremel work and adding a little bit of glue, i managed to make something that is very handy and very cheap. For a grand total of $28 dollars in parts you can have a cell phone size monitor for your camera. It isn't HD but it works well enough for framing your shots and seeing audio levels (t2i magic lantern hack). Since the t2i, 5d mark II, and 60d don't output HD when recording this little SD monitor will give you the same view as any other monitor in record mode. This video shows my Jailbroken iPad displaying all of its contents on a large television. If you don't jailbreak the iPad then the video out cables can only be used within certain applications (Netflix, ABC, Photos, Keynote) and then you can only display the actual output - not the interface. With the application called "Display Out" for jailbroken iPad's you'll be able to display your springboard pages, games, photo apps, weather apps, well actually - Any app. To Jailbreak the iPad just following these instructions: 1. Download "SPIRIT" Jailbreak application 2. Connect iPad to iTunes 9.x and backup your iPad (Smart Step, don't be lazy here) 3. Backup your SHSH Blobs / Files (www.youtube.com 4. Put your iPad into Recovery / Restore Mode. Do this with iPad connected to USB and iTunes NOT open. Hold down Power and HOME buttons together until iPad goes into recovery or restore mode then release. 5. Run the SPIRIT jailbreak app you downloaded 7 That's it - your iPad is jailbroken Now, scroll to the last screen and click on the Cydia app that was installed. But since the monitor was discontinued this year, the price has dropped to $44, which makes it a much more attractive option for filming. The monitor is still only standard definition, but it does have an audio amplifier and a built in battery. On top of that it has a very handy wide screen mode that allows you to use the whole screen instead of the center section of the screen. On the down side batteries are a bit pricey at $20 a pop, the screen isn't extremely bright, and the 1/4 20 hole on the bottom of the monitor isn't quit 1/4 20 ( I had to us a tape to clean out the threads). Here's me playing the last mission on Ace mode. I thought I had recorded this at 800x640, but it came out as 320x240, I'll try to fix that next upload. Also, this is not me at my best. I just got my TV tuner capture card, so I have to get used to playing on my computers monitor. Although, I have an RF modulator with RCA outputs, so maybe I can record while playing on my TV to make it easier on my eyes. Second, I haven't played in a while. I actually took a break and then I found the card at a good price lol. Oh well though.

I think there may be parts of this video where the sound, video, and inset video are a little out of sync, I hope it's good enough to give you an idea of what's going on. Demonstrates the functionality of the pads in my native mode hack. Pads can be individually transposed (as they can outside of native mode) - I didn't want the patch to lose too much of the original functionality - or transposed as a group. Different scenes can be programmed, and will remember their mappings, although currently only notes and not cc's. These can be saved, although I haven't shown that in the video, since I haven't really got that part ready yet. Soon. If a midi track is set up to monitor notes being played or recorded, and is set to output these to my patch, then the pads LEDs will show feedback, as long as they are set to the same notes as are being sent out - in other wods if their is a melody playing between C3 and C5 and the pads are set to play those notes they will flash in response to the midi being sent.
