The A42 - Featured on the Pathetic Motorways Website

This road serves as a cheap extension to the M42, hence the reason why it is featured on Pathetic Motorways. It is only 2 lanes each way and has no hard shoulder. There have been plans and rumours that it will be made into a motorway, but this hasn't happened and it still keeps it's "A" road name. Tom Robinson Band - 2-4-6-8 Motorway (1977)

Tom Robinson Band (TRB) were a British rock band, established in 1976 by singer, songwriter and bassist Tom Robinson (born on 1 June 1950, in Cambridge, England). Their third single, "Up Against the Wall", is now acknowledged as a classic punk rock single and their debut album, Power In The Darkness (1978), is still widely admired. "2-4-6-8 Motorway" was their first single, released in late 1977. It got into the top five of the UK singles charts, staying there for over a month. It was followed almost immediately by their next record, a four song EP called Rising Free which was recorded live at London's Lyceum Theatre in November 1977. It contained the songs "Don't Take No for an Answer", "Martin", "(Sing if you're) Glad to Be Gay" and "Right On Sister". The EP reached #18 in the UK singles charts. lyrics: Drive my truck midway to the motorway station Fairlane cruiser coming up on the left hand side Headlight shining, driving rain on the window frame Little young Lady Stardust hitching a ride... and it's 2-4-6-8 ain't never too late Me and my radio truckin' on thru the night 3-5-7-9 on a double white line Motorway sun coming up with the morning light Whizzkid sitting pretty on your two-wheel stallion This ol' ten-ton lorry got a bead on you Ain't no use setting up with a bad companion Ain't nobody get the better of you-know-who 2-4-6-8 ain't never too late Me and my radio truckin' on thru the night 3-5-7-9 on a double white line Motorway sun coming up with the morning ...

** Swedish TWINS ** both attempt ** SUICIDE ** on UK Motorway - Graphic !!

The incredible events were aired on the BBC documentary series, Motorway Cops. Sabina Eriksson (twin) later charged with killing Mr Hollinshead pitsnpots.co.uk The video shows the twin sisters walking along the central reservation of the M6 motorway, just outside Birmingham in central England. The duo then take a sudden plunge into oncoming traffic and the first woman is hit by a car. Police were called to the scene and astonishingly, while being interviewed, one of the women again tears herself away from officers and throws herself into the carriageway. The woman is struck by a truck and seriously injured. Soon after, the second sister repeats her twin's actions and hurtles into traffic to be hit by a car. Despite her head-on collision with a vehicle, the sister tried to escape custody once more by again running onto the motorway. "You can see the damage to the vehicle," said PC Tracey Cope, one of the officers on the scene during the BBC documentary. "The majority of people don't survive collisions when they've had an impact like that". The woman was in a highly aggressive state and attacked an officer. "Her strength was absolutely phenomenal" said PC Cope. Eventually it took a total of six members of the police to restrain her". PC Paul Finlayson, also witness to the incredible events, described the most violent of the two sister to the BBC as "a seriously deranged woman". The sister seriously injured by her collision with a truck was taken from the scene by air ...

Pakistan Motorway - The National Pride

INTRODUCTION The Motorways of Pakistan are a series of international-standard, high-speed, limited-access highways in Pakistan, which are maintained and operated by the National Highway Authority. The first motorway in Pakistan was opened in November 1997 and, by April 2010, the total length of operational motorways in Pakistan was 632 km with another 233 km under construction and further planned. FEATURES Pakistan's motorways are either six-lanes or four-lanes with a universal minimum speed limit of 80 km/h and a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h for heavy transport vehicles and 120 km/h for light transport vehicles. They have a central median and are fenced on the outside for safety and prevention of unauthorized access by pedestrians, animals and slow-moving vehicles. Entry to all motorways in Pakistan are restricted to fast-moving vehicles only, including high-performance heavy bikes. Pedestrians, bicycles, low-performance motorcycles, animal-driven carriages and other slow-moving vehicles are not permitted on the motorways. By February 2010, operational motorways in Pakistan had a combined length of 632 km with another 233 km under construction and further planned. Pakistan's Motorways are part of Pakistan's National Trade Corridor Project, which aims to link Pakistan's three Arabian Sea ports, namely Karachi Port, Port Bin Qasim and Gwadar Port to the rest of the country and further north with Afghanistan, Central Asia and China.

M74 Motorway Glasgow bike n hike

The new M74 motorway extension in Glasgow has been opened to cyclists, walkers and runners for a one-off charity day. About 20000 participants will take part in Bike-n-Hike before the section of motorway opens to cars on 28 June. The route starts at Shields Road car park, and involves a 14km round trip to Fullarton Roundabout, or a 4km route to and from Polmadie Road. The £657m M74 completion project links the end of the existing M74 with the M8 southwest of the Kingston Bridge. Work on the extension began in 2008, and it will open almost nine months ahead of schedule. The cost of the project is being met by the Scottish government through Transport Scotland and Glasgow, South Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire councils. The work was carried out by Interlink M74, a joint venture comprising Balfour Beatty, Morgan Est, Morrison Construction and Sir Robert McAlpine.

Traffic Cops - Twins Madness In The Fast Lane 1 of 4

In 2008, BBC cameras filmed two Swedish sisters throwing themselves into traffic on the M6. When it was shown on BBC One, nearly 7 million viewers were glued to their screens, and millions more watched it later on YouTube. The footage was shocking. One previewer wrote "On no account miss this documentary. It opens with what is perhaps the most extraordinary footage I've seen on TV". But this amazing footage was only part of an even more incredible story, one which could not be told at the time for legal reasons. Now, two years later, this documentary reveals the full story of the hours just before the cameras captured that motorway footage, and the even more chilling story of what happened over next 72 hours, which left one of the sisters fleeing the scene of a crime, after she had stabbed a man through the chest. Those who were at the centre of this fascinating legal case, including the police and Crown prosecution service, reveal the complex issues involved in both bringing charges and taking this disturbing case to trial. A leading criminal psychiatrist, Dr. Nigel Eastman, explains the difficulties the judicial system has in achieving justice and deciding punishment when dealing with mental illness. He explains the possible causes of the

Truck accident caught on police camera Motorway M621 (Crash M62 Leeds West Yorkshire UK)

This accident (6 May 2010) happened on an urban motorway/highway (M621 junction 2, Leeds) when a truck trying to return to the driving lane clipped a Porsche Boxster travelling parallel (lane capture/clinching) in the nearside blind spot of the truck driver's view, having been given way onto the carriageway 0.4 mile (0.64 km) earlier at junction 1. The car connects with the truck's steer wheel causing complete loss of steering and pulls away just in time before the 44 tonne truck rolls over. The contact and inertia causes the trailer carrying 30 tonne sand to topple. The blind spot is a documental accident risk and with God's grace no one was injured. This has to be a lesson for drivers with small vehicles on the dangers associated with truck blind spots. Speed was an issue with all vehicles concerned. The first truck in the video was being followed by the second truck, under instruction by a new recruit on his first day with the company. Notice how even after the accident the first truck, driven by the boss's son does not stop to enquire or assist. WHY? Thank goodness it all happened in view of CCTV cameras and dismissing any rumours, accusations or lies as a result. Safe driving to all viewers and remember ALWAYS use the SEAT BELTS. It could be the ONE & ONLY chance!
