Franz von Suppé-Poet & Peasant

Suppé's Poet & Peasant (Dichter und Bauer)* Best described as a "comedy with songs," Suppé's Dichter und Bauer (Poet and Peasant) three-act operetta premiered on August 24, 1846, at Vienna's Theater an der Wien, where Suppé had recently taken up the post of Kapellmeister. The book and lyrics are by Gustav Quedenfeldt, Eugen Rer, and K. Elmar. The version one is likely to see today is an arrangement made in 1936 by Franz Werther, the pen-name of Franz Wickenhauser (1872 - 1940). Suppé had not mastered the large-scale construction of scenes and acts that mark his later operettas, but the smaller elements of his style are all in place. Giacomo Puccini - E Lucevan le Stelle

Puccini's Most Famous Aria from His Opera Tosca. Preformed By Placido Domingo Hope You Enjoy =] How the stars used to shine there, How sweet the earth smelled, The orchard gate would creak, And a footstep would lightly crease the sand. She'd come in, fragrant as a flower, And she'd fall into my arms. Oh! sweet kisses, oh! lingering caresses, Trembling, I'd slowly uncover her dazzling beauty. Now, my dream of love has vanished forever. My last hour has flown, and I die, hopeless! And never have I loved life more!

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart-Symphony 40 in G Minor, K 550 - 1. Molto Allegro

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 40th Symphony in G Minor From : Immortals Conductor : Sir Simon Rattle Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra It is only through recognizing the violence and sensuality at the center of Mozart's work that we can make a start towards a comprehension of his structures and an insight into his magnificence. In a paradoxical way, Schumann's superficial characterization of the G minor Symphony can help us to see Mozart's daemon more steadily. In all of Mozart's supreme expressions of suffering and terror, there is something shockingly voluptuous.

Gabriel Fauré - Pavane in F-sharp minor, Op. 50.

The Pavane in F-sharp minor, Op. 50, is a composition for orchestra and optional chorus by the French composer Gabriel Fauré, written in 1887. Obtaining its rhythm from the slow processional Spanish court dance of the same name, the Pavane ebbs and flows from a series of harmonic and melodic climaxes, conjuring a cool, somewhat haunting, Belle Époque elegance. The piece is scored for only modest orchestral forces consisting of strings and one pair each of flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, and horns. A typical performance lasts around seven minutes. Richard Wagner's Overture for one of his most famous Operas, The Mastersingers Of Nuremberg. It is one of the most popular operas in the repertory, and is among the longest still commonly performed today. Preformed By : Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Conducted By : Daniel Barenboim Beware! Evil tricks threaten us; if the German people and kingdom should one day decay, under a false, foreign rule, soon no prince would understand his people; and foreign mists with foreign vanities they would plant in our German land; what is German and true none would know, if it did not live in the honour of German Masters. Therefore I say to you: honour your German Masters, then you will conjure up good spirits! And if you favour their endeavours, even if the Holy Roman Empire should dissolve in mist, for us there would yet remain holy German Art!
