Rather than arranging a number of full-length parts, I just laid out a roadmap before repeatedly listening to each song and adding what I heard in small chunks. PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION! and WATCH IN HD! Well, I think almost every guy knows the feeling we get when there's a girl who drives us crazy, and Keith Urban was clever enough to write a song about it. Even though I've only started listening to country in the last few years (being more of a jazz enthusiast myself), I realized how much I like Keith's songwriting, and how relatable his songs are, which is really common in country and folk music. So when I first heard this song last summer, I knew it would be a song I'd like to record somehow, and so I finally did it. This took me a solid week of steady work (over 50 hours) to transcribe, record, mix and edit. And I tried to get it to sound as much like the original as possible (apart from a guitar solo I added and some altered horn arrangements). This is probably my best sounding work, although there aren't any really virtuosic elements to this song, I think the orchestration blends really well as a whole and all the separate elements come together so I'm very proud to present this on youtube, and I hope one day Keith himself sees it. Les Paul & Mary Ford appear on Alistair Cooke's "Omnibus" (10/23/1953) to dispel rumors that their recordings are all electrical gadgetry. They perform two demonstrations of their recording techniques (one fake making fun of rumors and on real with his multitrack recorders. He is using his now famous Ampex model 200 machines (1-inch tape) given to him by friend Bing Crosby. He added an extra recording playhead to each to create the 1st multitrack system. (note: this is NOT the Ampex 8-track Les Paul commissioned in 1954 and finished in 1957.)

Multitrack of "Platforms a Plenty" from Super Mario Sunshine on the GameCube (the acapella Mario theme song in the warp/secret levels) This is my first time trying something like this, and despite a couple spots that aren't great, I'm happy with how it turned out. I'm a tenor, so although I was able to hit the high G5 (sitting just above the treble clef) that pops up a couple times, I had to cheat and use some digital magic to get down to the low C2 (a couple lines below the bass cleff). Filmed against my bedroom wall (which has Blik Mario decals on it) with my Canon point and shoot digital camera balanced on my bed (I broke my tripod earlier this year). *Please note! No tab or mp3* Yes, I was brought up on Dr Who. Very scary stuff, not least the theme tune, written by Ron Grainer and recorded by Delia Derbyshire at the BBC Radiophonic workshops. This was in the days well before synthesisers and multi-tracking, so a very laborious method of creating the sounds was used in which each sound was individually produced and individually edited in sequence (using sticky tape). To make the three components of the track, the bass, the treble and the white noise, each had to go on a separate tape recorder (because no multi-tracking!), and all three machines then played and mixed down to the final product. Well, you have to choose which part of the sound to focus on for the tune, and there are other ways of doing it than I used here, it just seemed the best way for my purposes. Anyway, in fact it was amusing to find that the tune is largely E minor pentatonic in essence - very rock and roll! The second half of the video has the lower guitar part on its own so you can play the top part along with it.

It's not in our hands. The people who own the film, physically own the film, who produced the original one, who have restored it and are ready to do something with it...that's about all I know, that they still have it. It's in great shape and they have put some effort into doing a good HD transfer and restoring it and preserving it.We all agree that it would be a good thing to come out some day. We do have the multi-track audio, so if ever it came out I would like to think that it would come through us so it could be mixed through a proper 5.1 mix. As it is, they can't do that. The only multi-track copy that exists is ours. The fact that it's Grateful Dead music, they would have to collaborate with us anyway. Nobody could just release something. Regardless, I agree it should come out. There's a lot of songs missing from the film and that's a product of them not filming a lot of songs. What I think would be ideal would be for it to come out on DVD, 5.1 mix, and then a three CD complete show of all released from the multi-track mix. That would be very pleasing to others and us.That's another thing. We have so little of the early era. Stuff that does exist should be given proper treatment and not just slapped together and thrown out, but really do the The <b>...</b>

One Day - HD - Matisyahu - Acappella - Multitrack It's been a while since my last multitrack video. While on Facebook, I ran across this song on a friends page. I had heard it before and really liked it. As I listened to the words and the great harmony I thought this would make a great multitrack. This song was written by Matisyahu, a Jewish, prodominantly reggae artist. He speaks of freedom, unity, and a world with no war. And although life can be difficult at times, we can never let it get us down, turning the negative thoughts into a hope for a positive future. A wonderful song that I hope you enjoy. This song required 33 audio tracks and 23 video. It is 100% acappella including the drum sounds. On the beat box bass drum, I added 2 seperate EQ's and compressed the heck out of it to give it the chest punching sound. I actually sing "doo" with a hard accent on the D to provide the sound. It took two weeks to learn and record the audio, 2 days to record the video, 3 days of video editing. A special thanks to my friend, Mike Beck, for helping with the video design/concept. Its a song by Billy Joel in a TTBB arrangement by Kirby Shaw. I heard the song for the first time last Saturday and it completely blew me away with its intensity. It is so sober, but it is charged with emotions. I tried to do the Billy Joel version justice, but I am but a mere mortal :). I see barbershop as a challange with boundaries I constantly need to push. I'm always looking for higher, longer, harder... so I just wanted to play it a little cooler with this one.
