Production: The scene in which Kermit is in the swamp took 5 days to film since Kermit's puppeteer, Jim Henson, had to find a way to go under the water and breathe while holding the puppet so he squeezed into a specially designed container complete with an air hose a rubber sleeve which came out of the top to peform Kermit and a moniter to see his peformance and placed himself under the water, log and the Kermit puppet. Here is part 4 of 11 of The Muppet Movie. The Muppet Movie is a 1979 live-action musical film and is the first of several movies feauturing Jim Henson's Muppets. The Story chronicles around the Muppets as they journey to Hollywood to become rich and famous. It feautures many famous guest stars some who had already appeared on the Muppet Show. The cars: Several classic cars were specially selected by Jim Henson to appear in the movie. Some of these cars included two psychedelic 1951 Studerbakers. One was painted but unmodified and was used to take long, travelling shots. The second was driven by a person in the trunk who viewed the road through a TV set. The TV recieved its image from a camera located in the center nose of the car's front grill. This would make it possible for Frank Oz to sit in the front seat and portray Fozzie driving the car in close-up shots. Other cars in the movie included a 1959 Cadilliac Fleetwood Limousine, (which was used as Doc Hopper's car in the film) and a 1946 Ford Station Wagon which was used as the Muppet's final car in the movie. Breaking the fourth wall: The fouth wall is occasionally broken throughout the film such as when the Muppets are quoting on the movie and seeing how it's going. During the "Movin' Right Along" number, Kermit and Fozzie ask Big Bird (from Sesame Street) if he wants a lift, but the latter refuses saying he's trying to break into New York television (explaning his career on Sesame Street). In a particulary meta-fictonal plot twist, Kermit and Fozzie actually give the screenplay to Dr Teeth who later uses it to find and rescue them when they get lost in the desert. But the journey is fraught with perils as they must face mad scientists, beastly thugs, evil assisains and the villainous Doc Hopper (Charles Durning) who attempts to make Kermit the new spokesman for his failing french fried frog-legs franchise. Production: The scene in which Kermit is in the swamp took 5 days to film since Kermit's puppeteer, Jim Henson, had to find a way to go under the water and breathe while holding the puppet so he squeezed into a specially designed container complete with an air hose a rubber sleeve which came out of the top to peform Kermit and a moniter to see his peformance and placed himself under the water, log and the Kermit puppet.
