As of August 2009 we have tuned the car up to 1 bar of boost which resulted in just over 1100 RWHP. For now we are playing around with the car at various boost levels and documenting the differences in performance with our trusty V Box. In 90 degree heat the car pulled off a 5.10 second 60-130 at around 950 RWHP. For reference a stock 580 horsepower Murcielago takes around 9.5 seconds to make the leap from 60 to 130. With a little more boost it will dip into the 4 second range for sure. The Heffner Twin Turbo Murcielago is an absolute blast to drive and sounds like nothing we have ever heard. The "end of production" of the Murciélago was celebrated in the factory on November 5, 2010, with a special exhibition of the most iconic V12 cars of Lamborghini's history, followed by a parade in Sant'Agata Bolognese. Supersportcars like the 350 GT, the Miura, the Countach and the Diablo escorted a Murciélago SV of the Lamborghini Museum during a symbolic "last ride" out of the gate of the Lamborghini factory.

I went for a ride in a friend's Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 at the Monza racetrack. The car is finished in Giallo Evros paintjob with black wheels, huge spoiler and an italian aftermarket exhaust. This was the first of two Murci SVs that I spotted in one evening in London's Knightsbridge; I saw it driving and followed to catch clips of the wonderful engine note. One clip shows the car accelerating hard by London standards, and I repeated this because the noise was quite special. The Lamborghini Murciélago is a high-performance two-door, two-seat sports car that was produced by Italian automaker Lamborghini between 2001 and 2010. Often referred to as a supercar, it was the flagship of the automaker's lineup. The Murciélago was introduced as a coupé in 2001 for the 2002 model year, succeeding the famed Diablo supercar in Lamborghini's lineup. The car was the automaker's first new design in eleven years, as well as the first under the ownership of German automaker Audi. It was styled by Peruvian-born Belgian Luc Donckerwolke, Lamborghini's head of design from 1998 to 2005. A roadster version of the car was introduced in 2004, followed by the updated LP 640 coupé and roadster and LP 650-4 Roadster. The final variation to wear the Murciélago nameplate was the LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, powered by the largest and final evolution of the historic Lamborghini V12 engine. Production of the Murciélago ended on November 5th 2010, with a total run of 4099 cars. A successor, powered by a new V12 engine, is expected in 2011.
