Once in a lifetime productions presents an intimate evening of music hall frivolity, camp & nostalgia, bringing old & new together, with guest appearances & surprises from the inimitable, legendary music hall star Betty Love , Spice & Dame Margot. Music hall is a traditional form of British & theatrical entertainment that was extremely popular between 1850 & 1960 & Music halls were originally bar rooms that provided entertainment for their patrons. Such entertainment encompassed popular song, comedy & specialty acts & is where today's idiom of Drag originated from. Stars of the music hall included Vesta Tilley, Fred Barnes, Gracie Fields, Will Hay Marie Lloyd, George Formby & Brighton's own Max Miller. Danny La Rue based his entire persona around his music hall. It is with this in mind that once in a lifetime productions brings Betty's Music Hall Eggstravaganza to Brighton.

ps22chorus.blogspot.com http twitter.com celticwoman.com Last night was an absolutely incredible experience for the PS22 Chorus of 2010, performing with Irish music sensation Celtic Woman at their February 27th 2010 performance at Radio City Music Hall! Chloe gave the kids such a beautiful introduction which led into this magnificent performance of "You Raise Me Up" originally made famous by Josh Groban, who recently discovered the PS22 Chorus himself! (He linked to our cover of Empire State of Mind on his blog just last week!) It was truly an epic rendition of a great song, and one of the most beautiful music-making experiences the PS22 Chorus has ever been a part of. Thanks to Celtic Woman for giving these kids the thrill of a lifetime, and for being so down to earth and embracing this our kids and this entire experience wholeheartedly. The kids felt your genuine apprecation, and we have all been duly touched by it. In the next video to be posted you will hear some of the kids reactions to the experience on the bus ride home -- Celtic Woman definitely created 65 new devoted 10 year old fans this past week! And as wonderful as this video is, stay tuned for perhaps an even more poignant acoustic version of "You Raise Me Up" from our rehearsal on Thurday!

At Radio City Music Hall in New York, Andre Rieu along with the Harlem Gospel Choir, and Tenors and Sopranos from his own group of performers, put forth an out of this world, totally moving rendition of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus. The whole piece, from which the Hallelujah Chorus is just one part, is known as Messiah. It is legendary that it was inspired by God. Handel composed the piece in just three weeks, but it is said that modern musicians can hardly even copy it in three weeks, let alone write it from the ground up. Hopefully you will all feel the tremendous Light in this piece, and recognize that it is intended to give the Glory to the Christ Self that is a part of each and every one of us. Maxie is one such. This was recorded near the end of his career - and the end of Music Hall - at the Metropolitan, Edgware Road, London (it's a supermarket now) in 1957 and released on a 10" album. A rare thing in those days. Incidentally, sorry about the picture - I should have cut a still from one of his live performances - but never mind. Enjoy listening to an early master of standup.
