Her family was a merchant class hailing from Amritsar who had settled in Guwahati in Assam State in the North-Eastern India. Her father was an active member of the Muslim League and in 1958, the family moved to Pakistan. As a child, Nayyara is said to have been inspired by the bhajans of Kanan Devi and Kamla as well as the ghazals and thumris of Begum Akhtar.[4] Although Nayyara had no formal musical background nor formal training, she was discovered by Professor Israr at the Islamia College in Lahore after hearing her sing for her friends and teachers at an annual dinner at the National College of Arts in Lahore in 1968. Soon thereafter she was asked to sing for the university's Radio Pakistan programs. In 1971, Nayyara made her public singing debut in Pakistani television serials and then beginning with films like Gharana and Tansen. She has since sung ghazals composed by the likes of Ghalib and Faiz Ahmed Faiz and has performed with Mehdi Hassan. She has won three gold medals in the All Pakistan Music Conference and a Nigar Award for best female singer. Ae Ishq Hamein Barbad Na Kar (Nayyara Noor) I became an instant fan of Nayyara Noor sahiba, when I heard her awesome singing of Ae Ishq Hamein.... Sure enough, I was lured to sing it at once... Unable to find track for this geet, I requested Bhupinder Singh Pujji, who very graciously agreed to make the tracks. I am deeply indebted to Bhupinderji, Arvinder ji and the bal-kalakar Suhail for doing a wonderful job on the track.. Here is my rendition of 'Ae Ishq Hamein Barbaad Na Kar'. Written by the poet Muhammad Dawood Khan, popularly known as Akhtar Shirani (was born on 4 May 1905 in Tonk, a princely state in British India (later absorbed into the states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, India). Akhtar Shirani is considered one of the main pillars of the modern romantic Urdu poetry. He was called shaair-e romaan (the poet of romance). The Poet: Syed Nasir Raza Kazmi سید ناصر رضا کاظمی (takhallus: Nasir ناصر ) was born in Ambala امبالہ , Punjab (now in Haryana), British India in 1925. His father (Muhammad Sultan Kazmi محمد سلطان کاظمی ) was a Subedar Major صوبیدار میجر (a JCO, Junior Commissioned Officer) in the British Indian Army. He got his early religious education at Ambala, but then moved to Nowshehra Cantt نوشہرہ چھاؤنی, NWFP (now a Province of Pakistan), where his father was posted. When he was in fourth grade, he moved with the family to Peshawar پشاور, where his father had been posted. He stayed in Peshawar for a few years, then moved back to Ambala. He passed his Matriculation Examination (10th Grade) from Muslim High School مسلم ہائی اسکول , Ambala. For his Intermediate (12th Grade), he studied at Islamia College اسلامیہ کالج, Lahore لاہور. After completing his education from Lahore, he returned to Ambala in 1945. He migrated to Lahore, Pakistan after the creation of Pakistan in 1947. He got employed at the Radio Pakistan ریڈیو پاکستان لاہور in 1952, where he became a Staff Editor. He also worked for magazines of Urdu literature like Auraaq-e Nau اوراقِ نو and Humayun ہمایوں (of which he became the Chief Editor in 1952). He lived in Lahore where he mostly worked for the Radio. He died in Lahore on 2 March 1972. He was survived by two sons, Basir Sultan Kazmi and Hassan Sultan Kazmi۔ Nasir Kazmi started composing poetry in his teen years. To me this is the best song Nayyar Noor has sung as regards giving rich expressions in the delivery of each and every word in this song. This movie also had Runa Laila among the singers and she did sing another song (Main to Chali Hawa kay Sang) which was also beautiful in rendition..and this song Mausam Suhana was obviously Runa's song too but i have to admire the music director who called Nayyar Noor for this song and she performed remakably well. I dunt see too many songs given to her (may be 50 in total) and she sang most of them as flat as she could sing..and all of them are no longer remembered except Roothay huay tum (Aaina) or Tera saya jahan bhi ho sajna (Gharana) and one or two more..She is a shy personality basically and has much of a sober image especially since she started on Tv singing Khurshid's gem songs which most of the new generation fellows take as her own Pakistani songs Ghata ghanghor ghor, Panchhi Bawra etc :) and not to forget her famous drama serial songs like Kabhi Hum Khoobsurat Thay (Teesra Kinara) Drama Taan Sen and Other Geet & Ghazals like Faiz sahab's Hum ke Thehray Ajnabi, Nasir Kazmi's Rang Barsat ne Bharay Kuchh to, Qalandar Bakhsh Jurrat's Dil mein kya kya aayay hay & the last popular being Meri Zaaat Zarra-e-BayNishaan. All of these feature voice of a graceful personality and no one can imagine that she sang a few cabret songs or masti songs like this in the past with rich expressions. I tried hard but couldnt find a flow n rhythm like <b>...</b>

Most of the Pakistanies still think that the songs like Ghata ghanghor ghor mor machayay shor moray sajan aa ja Panchhi bawra chand say preet lagayay & Madhar madhur ga ray manwa madhur madhur ga etc. are originally sung by young Nayyara Noor in 1980's. This is not true. While Indian songs were (and are) banned on state tv & radio, these vintage era Gems of Khurshid were on-air in the voices of Nayyara Noor & Benjamin Sisters etc..without any mention whatsoever of the original singer Khurshid.. quite shameful attitude of Govt Media. In this very old VHS recording Nayyara Noor will admit that Khurshid was the inspiration and everywhere she sings she has to include these songs of Khurshid in the concert. Great Bowling Legend and Oval Test Match Hero of Pakistan Fazal Mahmood is the one pleading the graceful lady Khurshid for one line of Panchhi Bawra which she sang for him in style.
