Stock Mazda3 engine w/ Mazdaspeed coilovers and GT2871R turbo, running in the solo group because it was my first time at this track. The car ran amazingly on the turbo kit without problems for 2.5 years, but decided this was its last session. Engine blows at 4:58 (shortly after a nice pass at around 4:15, into a pretty aggressive line through a fastish long right turn). Luckily, it happened in the esses and I was able to coast safely off the track and into the parking lot near the cold pits, without interrupting the session at all.

NCRC President John Taylor provides a wrapup of his testimony at the House Financial Services Subcommittee. The hearing was on "Rooting Out Discrimination in Mortgage Lending: Using HMDA as a Tool for Fair Lending Enforcement." HMDA stands for Home Mortgage Disclosure Act which requires collection and reporting of Mortgage Related Data by some lenders. While HMDA is a useful tool in analyzing lending trends, NCRC believes that the data collected should be expanded in order to provide more publicly accessible information to improve analysis of progress and problems in lending patterns. I'm making lots of little adjustments throughout a few corners, the most obvious of which was at Turn 5 at 10:30 in the video, and I missed the apex completely. Event - September 3rd 2010 @ NCRC Solo Group 5th Session I was following a friend around in his Turbo Mazda3. He launches first and I follow along. The flying lap was 2:20-ish. Not our fastest laps of the day, but interesting to watch as you can see my friend build up a gap by the end of the video. I started about 3 seconds behind him. The gap grew to about 4-5 seconds by the end of the second lap. It grew at about the same rate until we hit traffic. This is also my first video using a new mount. I like this angle because you can see the steering inputs. Sorry for the poor audio quality. I tried using the waterproof case instead of the 'open backed' one to help reduce wind noise. It got rid of the wind noise, but you can't hear anything but some rattling.

The config was CW1. Unfortunately the first session didn't record because I failed to check the SD card, which was full. So, the 2nd and 3rd sessions I did record are with a passenger. In the first session I ran a fast time of 2.12 which is 2 seconds slower than my fastest time of 2.10. Next year there will be some more changes to the car hopefully to drop into the sub 2.07 in CW1 and sub 2.00 @ CW13.

240z @ NCRC Thunderhill 4-1-11 Open Group. Great group - good drivers and fast cars. Lots of full race cars and a Lotus spin at the end.
