Malcom Moore called the current incident the first time on record that the Party has "lost all control" in a situation of "open revolt." This marks the latest escalation in an ongoing confrontation between villagers and local Communist Party officials they've called corrupt and abusive. New Tang Dynasty Televisions first annual Chinese International Piano Competition came to its conclusion on Sunday, as after three days of competition the last 15 finalists came down to only a handful of winners for the top awards and the two top winners were both young musicians with brilliant futures ahead of them. The reason -- the iPhone 4S sells for $125 dollars cheaper in Hong Kong. Smugglers try to make a quick buck buying the phone there and selling it in the Mainland. This is the Luohu District of Shenzhen, a port of entry where authorities have been battling increasingly inventive methods of smartphone smuggling. Since the beginning of the year, over 3000 phones have been seized, in a total of 231 cases. In this recent footage from February 21st, a man attempts to pass through customs with 30 iPhones tied to his waist and ankles. Customs officials noticed something was amiss when the man couldn't bend down to pick up his suitcase. About 250000 travelers pass through here everyday. Professor Sugihara is one of the world's leading exponents of optical illusion, a mathematical art-form that he says could have application in the real world. Chan An animal rights group rescues twenty-eight bears in China. An NGO dedicated to ending animal cruelty in Asia have just released footage of 28 moon bears that were being rescued from a life of torture on bile farms in China. STORY: The animal rights group, Animals Asia Foundation (AAF), say the bears were rescued from a farm in Ziyang, in Sichuan Province. Then they were brought to a rescue center in Chengdu in cramped cages and in shocking condition. Five were already dead. The rights group's founder says the surviving bears were emaciated and wounded in various ways and appeared terrified. Some of the bears were blind... some had shattered teeth and were severely wounded. The endangered bird is an offspring of a North Island Brown Kiwi. A rare white kiwi made its first media appearance on Tuesday, after it hatched at the Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre near Wellington on May 1st. The kiwi is a flightless bird native to New Zealand and is the country's national symbol. The small bird has been named 'Manukura' by Maori elders. Manukura is not an albino but a rare offspring of a North Island Brown Kiwi. It's being hand-reared by Department of Conservation officers for four to six months, and is being fed a diet of minced meat and vegetables. According to Birdlife International, the North Island Brown Kiwi is endangered. The current population of 38400 has decreased by as much as 86 percent over the past 36 years, due to predators and loss of habitat.

Genepax unveiled a car that runs on water in the western Japanese city of Osaka. They say it's an electric powered car that runs solely on hydrogen dioxide. The car will continue to run as long as you have a bottle of water inside for you to add from time to time." Beachgoers in China's northeastern Qingdao City were greeted by a sea of green on Monday, with algae covering the beach and part of the sea. Some vacationers are still swimming despite the algae, although the foul smelling green blanket is creating problems. "It definitely impacts [my swimming]. When you go down you can't come back up, and when you come up, you can't go back down." This man is a regular to Qingdao, and remembers better times. "I've been coming to Qingdao to swim every year since I was small. I would always swim in the sea, but after these past two years, it's no longer good." Though green algae is not believed to be poisonous, it can consume large amounts of oxygen and threaten marine life. Beach workers, volunteers, and visitors helped clean a carpet of algae about 1300 feet long and 98 feet wide, China's state-run media reported. Local maritime agencies believe that rising water temperatures have supported the algae's rapid growth, according to state media. A robbery using explosives, chainsaws and a getaway helicopter sounds straight out of the movies. But CCTV footage reveals the way in which a major cash depot was robbed in Sweden. The trial begins for ten people charged in connection with the heist. It may look like something out of a movie, but this robbery last September is completely real. CCTV footage of the heist shows a number of robbers landing on the roof of a security company's facilities in Sweden which houses a cash depot. The footage, released by Swedish police in July, shows the culprits using explosives and chainsaws to get inside the building and at the money. After less than half an hour the theft is over, and the robbers complete their getaway by helicopter. When two Swedish treasure hunters went out in June this year searching for ancient bottles of champagne in shipwrecks in the Baltic Sea, they found more than they'd bargained for. Dennis Åsberg and Peter Lindberg didn't find any champagne, they found something else. A huge disc-shaped object showed up in their sonar pictures 197 feet in diameter, as big as a jumbo jet.
