Ive glass bedded the receiver, removed the upper hand guard, floated the barrel, and removed both front and rear iron sights. Additionally, Ive researched tons of various loads for this, and found that the 200 grain match (reloads in .308 diameter bullets) with 50.4 grains of IMR 4350 seem to be the best combination for my 91/30's1,000 yards 1942 91/30 Russian Mosin-Nagant (P/U) sniper rifle

What a nifty little Mosin! I like this gun. One never knows when he'll need a bayonet around the farm,and this one is always there, ready for implementation. Since this video, I tapped the front sight over just a tad to the left, and it seems to shoot right on now. I'll have to try it on the bowling pin again. Of course, part of the problem was my elevation, too. I was holding just so that my bullet was striking in the neck area of the bowling pin, which makes for small target. The windage was really not off much. For the $100 or so you can pay for a rack grade Mosin-Nagant, it is a superb centerfire rifle. Proven the world over in combat since the turn of the century (and before!) the venerable 91/30 Mosin-Nagant has won many fans for this amazing high value. Coupled with currently available and high quality 7.63mmx54R European surplus ammunition, the combination provides amazing levels of fun, utility, and training without putting you in the poor house. This ammo, usually a 147 gr LPS load in copper-washed steel cases with Berdan priming, is corrosive but it shot accurately and reliably in the 2 yrs of testing in TNP. Cleaning the rifle after corrosive ammo is simple and I recommend Hoppes #9 for the task. POUs on the Mosin include "fun gun," project gun, collectible, affordable WROL option, and hunting rifle...all discussed in the vid. With over 17.5 million Mosin-Nagants produced and the market having been flooded for decades with surplus rifles, most having been re-arsenaled and changed from their original forms, it is unlikely a run of the mill Mosin will gain in value. Therefore, as discussed, it's ok to modify certain plentiful versions for greater enjoyment. Two such rifles are shown and discussed in detail in the video. But I think most folks are wise to buy a Mosin and just keep in stock so as to preserve its ECONOMY. Running the Mosin 91/30 in tactical fashion as shown is a rush and will challenge your marksmanship skill. And the ability to master this somewhat crude <b>...</b>

Practical cold weather testing of the Mosin-Nagan 91/30. With friend Cr0cket20, we launch out into the snow for engagements on Actiontarget.com steel plates to see what this rifle can do in these conditions. Temps ranged from 20ºF down to 15ºF later on. This particular Mosin-Nagant 1927 model wears my DuraCoat job in "Tactical Grey Green" (perfect color for the gun) and a Millet 1" red dot sight in a S&K brand scope base mounting in the rear sight area. In low light and overall speed this is a superior set up to the iron sights of the Mosin as proven in testing. The S&K mount has proven 100% stable in extensive testing as well (install carefully with blue Loc-Tite). In this outing, this Mosin 91/30 excels in the cold and the snow and shows that its battle-born pedigree still holds up. But be careful how you load those shells: it can experience rim lock if the cartridges are not loaded in forward stacking fashion, despite the "interrupter" in the magazine. This has happened at every stage of TNP testing. Firing the Mosin fast and accurately takes commitment and the user needs to cycle the bolt with authority and conviction. Short stroking the bolt can cause hangups as well. The trigger is pretty much awful but a good shooter can work through it and achieve remarkable accuracy. Our targets here range out to 175 yards, an approximately man-sized IPSC plate. this is a how to video for the Russian Mosin Nagant. the trigger on the Mosin is notoriously stiff and has a long pull. this mod makes the trigger pull a bit softer, shorter, and more predictable. i have found that this mod makes me less jerky on trigger pull and way more accurate out at the range. watch my 450 yard video to see what im talking about. step 1. obtain a spring and washer like in my video. spring can be found on many types of womens hair clips, staple removers, chip bag clips...etc...you might still have to do some modding of your spring to make it fit right. the washer i used is oretty thin, about the thickness of a credit card, and i wouldnt go any thicker as your bolt might slide out of the rifle during cycling of the action. see what works for you, each rifle is different. step 2. take your Mosin apart. step 3. unbolt the sear spring and install washer under spring. remember, you need to file part of the washer flat so it doesnt get in the way of the magazine during installation. step 4. with washer installed youll notice a softer trigger with less pull before firing pin release. youll also notice that now the trigger has some slop before spring engagement. step 5. push your trigger pin out and install spring. you will most llikely need to bend your spring a bit to get it to fit right. took me a good 15 mins of work to get mine to the right fit. install spring and push trigger pin back in place. step 6. make sure your bolt opperates correctly and so does <b>...</b>

Rocking a 1927 battle rifle fast and furious is easy right? Well maybe not. You will find the Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 battle rifle takes a bit of commitment to shoot fast and accurately. We find this particular example also had some feeding issues perhaps caused by a sticking magazine spring which I lubed later and "rim lock" on the cartridges. Make sure you load those cartridges rims stacking forward! But at $125 (or even less) the Mosin is a cheap long range rifle that's currently affordable to shoot. Long time friend BuggetNuster does a great job manning the gun on steel targets at 115 yards and PFIDude does some good camera work. Some funniness ensues and I just left the re-takes in on this vid for the heck of it. This is me shooting my M91/30 Mosin Nagant. It was made in 1942 by Izhevsk and I picked it up for $79 at Big 5 Sporting Goods back in 2007. The rifle itself was in bad shape when I bought it, but I was only concerned about the quality and shape of the bore. I refinished the stock with a red stain from minwax because the varnish that Century Arms put on it was falling off and flaking away. If you are thinking about refinishing your Mosin Nagant, definently do it, and the "how to" video is soon to follow. This rifle at first shot high and to the right when I bought it. These rifles were sighted in at the factory with the bayonet fixed, and the rifles were also sighted in for 200 Yds. Soviet military doctrine dictated that bayonets should be fixed at all times, but this was usually not practiced. The fixed bayonet will throw off the shot and make the rifle shoot to the right (on average) because of the interruption of the natural barrel harmonics. The rifles were sighted in at 200 yards because soldiers were encouraged to shoot the enemy from afar and aim at the waist and belt line. You can either aim low and to the left, or you can move the front sight to the right and increase the length of the front sight post (by replacing the post with a drill bit, or by slipping a coffee straw over the post). This was filmed at the Los Alamos Sportsman's Club in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The range is amazing and if you are in the area, definently stop by, but call ahead. If you have a <b>...</b>

1944 Izhevsk Mosin Nagant M91/30 PU Sniper long range shooting 500, 600, 700, 800 Meters. 3.5x 1940 Progress SVT scope 1959 rebuild marked, laminate stock, Sellier & Bellot 7.62x54R 174gr HPBT Match ammunition. Shots on 700 and 800M targets are recorded continuously-- no cutting. I had to cut the 500 and 600M shots because the video was over 10 minute limit. Camcorder has 50x zoom. Note: This rifle was imported into the US as a sniper rifle and came in through Century Arms International in mid to late 1990's. It was one of a few PU's in laminate stocks out of the couple hundred sniper rifles in this import batch. This is an adjusting-screws-staked-in-place, already zeroed from the armory PU sniper rifle. Quick vid illustrating how you can scout scope your 91/30 with a long eye relief scope. I don't like the mounts that only replace the rear sight elevator. They do not hold a zero for me. I do not condone the use of those, or anything that attaches to the muzzle of a Mosin Nagant. Muzzle brakes on Mosins are VERY dangerous, and should only be installed if they are threaded and permanently fastened to the barrel. Surprisingly enough, while I was in line to check out the rifles behind the counter, I started chatting with the person ahead of me purchasing a WASR AK47. He ended up recognizing me from YouTube and I must have blushed crimson when he pointed that out. I don't consider myself "famous" and that had never happened before, so I was completely caught off guard. However, I digress... for $100, I purchased the Mosin with the cleaning kit and bayonet and went home a very happy camper. I'm a bit of a history buff (I've always enjoyed the subject), so I already knew about the history of the Mosin's use, but once I had my own, I felt particularly interested in the Russian female snipers who used the 91/30 during World War II. I decided that merited a little more research. One in particular caught my attention, likely because she was more well known than some: Ludymila Pavlichenko. By the time she ended her service in combat, she had racked up 309 sniper kills, including 36 enemy snipers. Now, I'm not encouraging or condoning killing people - I'm not a violent person <b>...</b>

A video that is geared towards the accurizing of a Mosin Nagant rifle. This will work for any MN rifle. All that is being done is a little sanding in the barrel channel and could be a quick fix for your rifle with the addition of a piece of cork or like material. If you have a Mosin Nagant that is a little off on accuracy, try a few little tricks to see if you can't get it back on target.

Hopefully this sums things up in a nutshell. There really isn't much to this process. The main thing to remember is to take your time, use as mild of a degreaser/cleaner as you can get away with, and avoid using harsh chemical on the stock. Heat is the best way to remove cosmoline from a gun stock and I discuss a few creative methods in this video. This is the point where you have to decide what to do with your rifle. A lot of people will opt to reassemble the rifle and use it as is with maybe only a good glass bedding job to increase the accuracy of that stock rifle. Other will choose to upgrade triggers, stocks, sights, and even barrels. Whatever you do, as long as you take your time and use quality components, you should be left with a usable result.

Some of you may choose to shorten the barrel of your rifle. The M91/30 has a 1 in 9.5" right hand twist. The barrel on a standard NATO rifle in 7.62x51mm is around 21" so I decided to go with a barrel length of 22" The crown we cut is a 11 degree crown. The chamber is in pristine shape and the lands and grooves are strong and pronounced on this rifle. One thing I will note is that a counter bore is done to increase accuracy in a rifle that has excessive muzzle wear or has been clean carelessly. Before we shortened the barrel, the overall bore diameter slugged at 314" when started from the muzzle end. After shortening and recrowning the barrel, the overall slug diameter is now 312", which tells me that the muzzle had a little wear. One good thing about having a shorter barrel too is the decrease in excessive barrel vibrations, which can have a negative effect on accuracy. Many people build .308 WIN Sniper rifles with a 20" bull barrel with a 1-10" right hand twist and get excellent accuracy out to 1000 yards. The standard service load of WW2 in the 7.62x54r utilized a fairly heavy bullet, so the 174 grain Sierra Matchkings I plan on shooting out of this rifle should perform well with the given barrel length and fast twist.

This is a video that goes over a few of the things ive done with the mosin nagant m91/30. Mainly i go over the refinishing of the stock but i touch on sight adjustments. there is a lot of rambling and shitty camera work but it was late night/early morning and i was dead tired. like ive said before i hope to have a shooting video up sometime soon but shooting from a bench without some sort of recoil suppression just kills me and my skills arent developed enough to make anything better than a pattern at 100 yards. its possible i will make a video shooting from 25, 50, then 100yards in standing position but i need to buy more ammo first. if i do a video with the 3 ranges ill more than likely shoot 5 shots at each distance and maybe more just for fun or to see what size group i can make at 25. the gun portion of my channel is really laking and is a part of my life and hobbies i really want to show more of. to be honest guns/shooting/hunting is my most enjoyable hobby(and/or lifestyle)and ive really failed to make video because the times i shoot i tend to either have people around me or i just focus on having as much fun as possible and totally forget to film anything. well, expect more from me in the future and i hope to pick up more subscribers from the gun community as i try to do more work in this very fun hobby.
