1978 www.amazon.com Watch the full film: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Namibia, officially the Republic of Namibia (Afrikaans: Republiek van Namibië, German: Republik Namibia), is a country in Southern Africa whose western border is the Atlantic Ocean. It shares borders with Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana and Zimbabwe to the east, and South Africa to the south and east. It gained independence from South Africa on 21 March 1990 following the Namibian War of Independence. Its capital and largest city is Windhoek (German: Windhuk). Namibia is a member state of the United Nations (UN), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African Union (AU), the Commonwealth of Nations and many other international organizations. It has been given many names: the land of contrasts, the land God made in anger, the ageless land. For many years it was known only as South West Africa, but it adopted the name Namibia, after the Namib Desert. It is the second least densely populated country in the world, after Mongolia. The dry lands of Namibia were inhabited since early times by Bushmen, Damara, Namaqua, and since about the 14th century AD, by immigrating Bantu who came with the Bantu expansion. It was visited by the British and Dutch missionaries during the late 18th century. It was also visited by Dorsland trekkers in 1879, but became a German protectorate in 1884. In 1920, the League of Nations mandated the country to South Africa, which imposed their laws and ...

Bizarre Foods Namibia With Andrew Zimmern Part 1-3

Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern is a documentary-styled travel and cuisine television show hosted by Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel. The first season debuted on Monday, February 26, 2007 at 9pm ET/PT. Bizarre Foods focuses on regional cuisine from around the world which is typically perceived by Americans as being gross, unique, or, of course, bizarre. In each episode, Zimmern focuses on the cuisine of a particular country or region. He typically shows how the food is procured, where it is served, and, usually without hesitation, eats it. Originally a one-hour documentary titled Bizarre Foods of Asia, repeated showings on the Travel Channel drew consistent, considerable audiences. In late 2006, it was decided to turn the documentary into a weekly, one-hour show with the same premise and with Andrew Zimmern as the host. In 2009, Zimmern took a break from Bizarre Foods to work on one season of the spin-off Bizarre World. New episodes of Bizarre Foods began airing in January 2011.

dreadedpower.wordpress.com Thirty years before Hitler came to power in Germany, and about forty years before Raphael Lemkin authored the word genocide, there had already been one at the hands of Germany. This genocide happened outside of Europe though. This genocide took place in AFRIKA! Like with all things related to Afrika, this is never mentioned in our schools, which keeps us ignorant about our own histories. In the early 1900s, Germany invaded Namibia. This documentary from the BBC outlines the events that lead up to the deaths of 3/4 of the population of Herero people, and 1/2 of the population of Nama people.

Metal Space Ball Crashes in Namibia, South Africa

"A mysterious metal ball apparently fell from the sky near a village in the north of Namibia, 480 miles from the capital Windhoek, recently. Authorities in Namibia were alerted around mid-November, about the crash of this hollow sphere but they disclosed about the finding only after conducting some tests. Eyewitnesses claimed to have heard a series of explosions few days before the extraterrestrial find. Police forensics director Paul Ludik told a foreign news agency that the mystery sphere has a diameter of 35 centimetres (14 inches), a rough surface and appears to consist of 'two halves welded together'. Ludik also described the object as being made of a 'metal alloy known to man,' weighing in at six kilograms (13 pounds). "It is not an explosive device, but rather hollow, but we had to investigate all this first," Discovery News quoted him as saying. Following the crash, baffled Namibian police have appealed to NASA and the European Space Agency for an explanation. Namibia Africa Etosha National Park Jim Rogers

Jim Rogers traveled to 150 countries over 150000 miles in three years - follow his adventures here on FentonReport. In this video Jim visits Etosha National Park in Namibia. Etosha National Park is a national park in the Kunene Region of northwestern Namibia. The park shares boundaries with the regions of Oshana, Oshikoto and Otjozondjupa. Etosha was first established in 1907, when Namibia was a German colony known as South West Africa. At the time, the parks original 100000 km² (38500 mile²) made it the largest game reserve in the world. Due to political changes since its original establishment, the park is now slightly less than a quarter of its original area, but still remains a very large and significant area in which wildlife is protected. The Etosha Pan dominates the park. The salt pan desert is roughly 130 km long and as wide as 50 km in places. The salt pan is usually dry, but fills with water briefly in the summer, when it attracts pelicans and flamingos in particular. Perennial springs attract a variety of animals and birds throughout the year, including the endangered Black Rhinoceros and the endemic Black-faced Impala. In the dry season, winds blowing across the salt pan pick up saline dust and carry it across the country and out over the southern Atlantic. This salt enrichment provides minerals to the soil downwind of the pan on which some wildlife depends, though the salinity also creates challenges to farming. The Etosha Pan was one of several sites ...

1978 www.amazon.com Watch the full film: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com By February 9, 1990 the Constituent Assembly had drafted and adopted a constitution. Independence Day on March 21, 1990 was attended by numerous international representatives, including the main players, the UN Secretary-General Javier Pérez de Cuéllar and President of South Africa FW de Klerk, who jointly conferred formal independence on Namibia. Sam Nujoma was sworn in as the first President of Namibia watched by Nelson Mandela (who had been released from prison shortly beforehand) and representatives from 147 countries, including 20 heads of state. On March 1, 1994, the coastal enclave of Walvis Bay and 12 offshore islands were transferred to Namibia by South Africa. This followed three years of bilateral negotiations between the two governments and the establishment of a transitional Joint Administrative Authority (JAA) in November 1992 to administer the 780 km² (300 square mile) territory. The peaceful resolution of this territorial dispute was praised by the international community, as it fulfilled the provisions of the UNSCR 432 (1978), which declared Walvis Bay to be an integral part of Namibia. The politics of Namibia takes place in a framework of a presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the president of Namibia is elected to a five-year term and is both the head of state and the head of government, and of a multi-party system. Namibia & diamonds - www.embnamibia.at

The Namibia Diamond Consumer Confidence awareness campaign was officially launched by the Hounourable Erkki Nghimtina, Minister of Mines and Energy yesterday. The Project is an effort by the diamond industry to raise awareness on the issues of conflict diamonds and to tell the story of the goods that diamonds do for Namibia. Minister Nghimtina said: "It goes without saying that the mining industry in Namibia has been, since the turn of the century, one of the corner stones of the economy." According to the Minister, Namibia is well known for gem quality diamonds as well as a wide range of other minerals. "In contributing approximately 12.5% to the GDP, mining continues to be an important generator of export and foreign exchange, and acts as a catalyst towards the provision and extension of infrastructures within the country. In Namibia, diamonds account for more than 40% of our country's export revenue, 7% of the government revenue and more than 10% of GDP," he said. The occasion was attended by dignitaries from the embassies of Russia, Brazil, UK and industry leaders in the diamond fraternity. During his speech, the Minister made it clear that although Namibia has never been involved in conflict diamonds, it does not mean that the country should turn a blind eye to the dangers posed by smuggling, illicit diamond dealings and other related activities. Conflict diamonds is the term used to describe diamonds which are illegally traded to fund conflicts. The United Nations ...

Straddling the Atlantic coast of south-west Africa, it is home to the biggest migrating dunes in the world. Shaped by the west wind from the Atlantic, they reach heights of 300 metres. Namibia means Land of open spaces, and is named after the desert. The dunes move at a speed of about 20 metres a year. Further inland, they merge with a landscape of bush and savannah, rich in grass, scattered trees and a wealth of rare plants and animal species unique to the region. Ancient nomadic tribes have roamed here for centuries, searching for pastures to feed their cattle.
