Common talks New Album, No ID, Kanye, album with Nas, acting, Soulquarians + More
www.hardknock.tv Exclusive in-depth interview with Common. In part 1 Common talks to Nick Huff Barili about his new album "The Dreamer, The Believer" which he says is produced by No ID, who handled the production of Common's early albums. Common states that although the new album is not coming out through Kanye's Good Music label, he still considers himself part of Good Music because he and Kanye are like brothers. Common address the rumors that him and Nas are working on an album, stating that they were originally going to put out a mixtape together called Nas (dot) Com but that they are now going to make an album together after both of them put our there solo albums. In his book "One Day It Will All Make Sense" Common mentions that early in his acting career he had a hard time getting non-stereotypical roles. In this interview with Hard Knock TV he mentions that his ideal role would be to play a character like James Bond. Common goes on to explain how acting has helped his music. Common ends part 1 of this interview by sharing his thoughts on the possibility that there will ever be a Soulquarians album. www.thehiphopchronicle.com Following his debut London show, Big Sean spoke to Sumit of The Hip Hop Chronicle UK. He tells Sumit "Marvin & Chardonnay" was the last track done for the album and that he and Kanye wrote their lyrics while on the phone together. "My Last" was the first song done for the album. It initally had Sean singing the hook but Chris Brown wanted in after hearing the track. It was a song the rapper did not want to put out but was convinced by No ID The single initally had Sean singing it, not Chris Brown. I ask Sean to explain the one-line punchline flow and what did he mean when he said "the whole rap game trying to sound like me". He explains Drake gave him credit for starting that flow. Towards the end of the interview, the rapper speaks on No ID's involvement with the project and how "good collaborations with a legend" never made the final cut of the album due to sample clearances. The GOOD Music member also says he will release a brand new mixtape in the "next month and a half".

J Cole on Self Producing Cole World, Lost Ones, Jay-Z being hands off
www.hardknock.tv Exclusive in-depth interview with J Cole! Part 2 starts with Cole talking about the title of the debut album "Cole World -- The Sideline Story" and how it came about. The album has evolved from when we first interviewed Cole almost 3 years ago from having NO ID producing most of it to Cole producing most of it. Cole wants to have 15 songs saying Miseducation of Lauryn Hill has 15, Kanye's College Drop out has 15, even though Jay-Z wants 14. Cole addresses the criticism that he should work with more mainstream producers saying he has something to prove about his own production. He would rather go out swinging on his own than go ask Swizz Beatz for a radio record. No diss to Swizz intended. How can you knock a man for trying to take control of his own destiny?? Cole says that he has been producing since day 1 and tells the story of the first song he ever did saying he did the beat from one of his Moms cd and wrote the story to that. He was 15 and the song is called The Storm. Cole says that he appreciates Jay-Z being hands off and its Jay'z respect for Cole's artistic vision that has allowed Cole to do his own thing. As the conversation moves along Cole speaks on the High and Lows of the journey, which has been the making of Cole World- The Sideline Story.
