music video from new york of the 70's When i look back when i was making this video (inspired by the seventies cop show The Streets Of San Francisco opening intro which had a huge impact musically on me when i was little www.youtube.com and Jimi Hendrix's Crosstown Traffic brilliant video www.youtube.com ).. it was a bit of a job actually cos the equipment i had was very simple, only had a computer a videorecorder and a lot of determination so i had to record all those 70's films footage i used for making this video containing New York scenes (Taxi Driver, French Connection, Midnight Cowboy, Kojak and there is one shot from Sicilly Clan and one from Forrest Gump) when they were showing them on telly, so it took a while.. and then transfer them to a digital form, which wasn't easy really, that program i used was crashing all the time so it took a LOT of patience and then obviously process it, edit and sync it with the music.. It took few weeks to finish it. Therefore im very happy that people are enjoying this video.. Please check my other work on www.youtube.com Thank you very much.. PS Never been to New York. :) MC 2011

This song and video pay homage to the traditional fairytale, but with a contemporary and decidedly adult twist. Billed as "a fantasmagorical work of fictional fabulosity," the film "is a frivolous, fairytale frolic intended solely for harmless, humorous purposes to lighten up an occasionally dull existence. Little Person by Jon Brion I'm just a little person. One person in a sea. Of many little people. Who are not aware of me. I do my little job. And live my little life. Eat my little meals. Miss my little kid and wife. And somewhere maybe someday. Maybe somewhere far away. I'll find a second little person. Who will look at me and say. I know you. You're the one I've waited for. Let's have some fun. Life is precious. Every minute. And more precious with you in it. So let's have some fun. We'll take a road trip. Way out West. You're the one. I like the best. I'm glad I found you. Like hanging round you. You're the one. I like the best. Somewhere maybe someday. Maybe somewhere far away. Somewhere maybe someday. Maybe somewhere far away. Somewhere maybe someday. Maybe somewhere far away. I'll meet a second little person. And we'll go out and play.

The New York Islanders wanted revenge last night, and they got it in every form in a wild 9-3 fight-filled win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. A little over one week ago the Isles were humiliated by the Pens. They were shutout 3-0 in Pittsburgh. Rick DiPietro was one-punched to the ice by fellow goaltender Brent Johnson. DiPietro will miss time with injuries from that fight. Blake Comeau took a blind-side hit from Max Talbot and hasn't played a game since. It took almost 10 minutes, but the fun started to begin for the Islanders. Travis Hamonic opened up the scoring. A couple of minutes after that Michael Haley dominated a fight against Craig Adams. After another couple of minutes the Islanders increased their lead. After it rose to 3-0 Eric Godard challenged Trevor Gillies. At home and always willing, the heavyweights swung away until they were each tired enough to skate away with little intervention from the linesmen. The Islanders added one more goal for good measure. A few minutes into the second period John Tavares scored his 20th of the season. 30 seconds after that Haley netted the first goal of his NHL career. It was at that score, 6-0 when wild went to a new level in the post-lockout era. Matt Martin threw a from-the-side sucker-punch at Talbot. While Martin tried to get more of a fight out of it, everyone paired up. Pascal Dupuis and Josh Bailey locked up, each earning their first fighting major in the NHL. At the same time, Michael Rupp took a bout against ...

Sporting a dark green tie purc and a New York Jets sports cap, now former USC Quarterback Mark Sanchez came down to the Interview Room at Radio City Music Hall to a small group of media people including yours truly about 30 minutes ago from the start of this blog post. Sanchez fielded a set of questions starting with my query to determine if it was true he left USC early to avoid the possibility of losing to Cal this year. The Jets' newest signal called got a kick out of that one and recalled the last game played at Berkeley, a rain-soaked affair that USC won when John David Booty was the quarterback, 24-17. On the matter of how it feels to be a jet, "Oh," he sighed, "It's really special. I'm really grateful that Mr Mike Tannenbaum (Jets GM) and Mr. Woody Johnson (Jets owner) made the trade (up to the number 5th pick, trading places with the Cleveland Browns, who gave their first- and second-round picks, and adding defensive end Kenyon Coleman, safety Abram Elam and quarterback Brett Ratliff) But Sanchez added "Nothing's been accomplished yet, I've only gotten into a uniform. It's going to take a lot of practice and hard work. The underclassman Sanchez who has a 14-2 record at USC offered that the reason he came out early (he has one more year of eligibility) was a personal decision arrived at after the Rose Bowl and after talking it through with his family and his high school coach Bob Johnson. ack-to-back defeats wasn't an option for the Toronto Raptors. Andrea Bargnani scored 25 points to lead the Raptors to a 115-92 win over New York on Sunday, two days after a loss to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Chris Bosh added 17 points to give Sam Mitchell a victory in his 300th game as the Raptors' head coach. Anthony Parker had 16 points, while TJ Ford had 15 and newcomer Primoz Brezec finished with 11 for Toronto (30-24). Jamal Crawford had 26 points to top the Knicks (17-39), while Nate Robinson added 20. Two nights earlier in the New York, Crawford scorched the Raptors with a 43-point performance, leading the Knicks to a come-from-behind 103-99 win. But rather than coming out red-hot for revenge on Sunday, the Raptors looked a little lackadaisical in the early going, their biggest first-half lead being just eight points. The Raptors broke the game open in the third, racing out on an 18-3 run to take a 17-point lead. They would stretch their advantage to 20 points late in the quarter before heading into the fourth up 84-67 in front of a capacity crowd of 19800 at the Air Canada Centre. The Knicks showed some life _ albeit briefly _ in the fourth, cutting Toronto's lead to 11 with 10 minutes left, but it was all Raptors the rest of the way. Ford scored seven straight points in the dying minutes to put Toronto up by 23, and then Mitchell went to his bench with about three minutes to go, wrapping up a relatively easy night for the Raptors. Brezec made his ...

Ludwig van Beethoven Leonard Bernstein New York Philharmonic In his late twenties, Beethoven started to hear buzzing and ringing sounds in his ears. A few years later in 1802, he wrote a distressed letter in a town near Vienna that was addressed to his brothers (yet it remained in his own possession until his death at age 57). The note discussed Beethoven's deteriorating hearing (he eventually went deaf), how it made him feel lonely and anxious around others, and it laid out a will such that his siblings would inherit his wealth when he died. However, he also wrote in it, "I would have ended my life—it was only my art that held me back." Historians later dubbed this letter, the Heiligenstadt Testament, after the town in which it was written. This triumph over personal adversity happened concurrently with a significant change in Beethoven's musical style. The works composed after his emotional breakdown in 1802 radiated a new boldness and intrepidity, which often broke the formal rules of the Classical era in music. In fact, the first musical ideas for his Third Symphony—which was completed in 1804—were jotted down merely a few weeks after the Heiligenstadt Testament. Putting these ideas into perspective, it is no wonder why Beethoven's Third Symphony is sometimes deemed a nexus between the Classical and Romantic musical periods. The Third Symphony's nickname is Eroica, which is Italian for "heroic." Originally, Beethoven planned to call the work, Bonaparte, after Napoleon ...

By 1944, this sound that defined a doorway into the modern era of jazz and its heroes—Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie—and a name: bebop. Bebop filtered into the clubs on 52nd Street—Onyx Club, Three Deuces, the Famous Door and others—where swing-era veterans like Count Basie, Pee Wee Russell and Eddie Condon could also be heard. But as bebop gathered momentum, it lacked its own home. An enterprising ex-saxophonist named Ralph Watkins—whose efforts at opening a jazz room in a chicken restaurant on Broadway were off to a stumbling start—was convinced by publicist/producer Monte Kay and DJ "Symphony" Sid Torin to try booking the stars of this new modern sound. On a Tuesday night in 1948, the Royal Roost presented its first modern-jazz concert, showcasing a young, all-star lineup: Parker, Tadd Dameron, Miles Davis, Dexter Gordon, Fats Navarro and Max Roach. More than 500 fans showed up. Soon enough, the club adopted a second name, the Metropolitan Bopera House and proudly ...

Technology'Telectroscope' Allows View Across the Atlantic'Telectroscope' Allows View Across the AtlanticThe Associated PressA transatlantic portal has opened in New York and London - not a means of transportation, but an art project that links the two cities in real time via fibre optic imaging. (May 23)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] London seemed just a stone's throw away for people visiting the Brooklyn Bridge on its 125th Anniversary. And Londoners near the Tower Bridge, well, they could see a tree grow in Brooklyn, all thanks to a visionary artist and two "telectroscopes." The "telectroscopes" - one set up on each side of the "pond" - allow people to see and communicate with their counterparts in real time via fibre optic imaging. [Notes:Andy Slater, British citizen working in New York:]"IT WAS FANTASTIC HAVING A PROPER WINDOW ON ENGLAND, THAT'S SORT OF FAMILIAR. HAVING A POCKET OF SOMETHING FAMILIAR HERE, JUST BY NEW YORK AND I CAN TURN AND LOOK AT ONE SKYLINE AND LOOK AT THE OTHER. IT'S NICE TO SEE THE TWO TOGETHER LIKE THAT."Paul St George devised the art display because of his fascinations with illusion and reality, optical effect and perception. PEOPLE ARE STILL AMAZED TO SEE ONE ANOTHER JUST STANDING THERE LOOKING THROUGH THIS DEVICE. AND THEY ARE EXCITED AND HOLD UP LITTLE SIGNS TO COMMUNICATE, THERE'S NO AUDIO. THEY ...

(Notes from "The Incomparable Como" Readers Digest UK compilation 1975) Quote: Composer Richard Rodgers borrowed from himself for the melody for this lovely ballad from the show 'Me and Juliet'. The melody was originally a theme called Beneath the Southern Cross, which Rodgers had composed for 'Victory at Sea', the TV series about World War II. Perry's vocal version climaxes in a full-voiced high note ending that is superb singing and makes for dramatic listening. Como's tine control and the ease with which he soars to the top of his register, as critic Henry Pleasants noted, 'so easy, so natural, so inevitable. Como sings so well that few notice how well he sings. Unquote: Quote: The original music of this song was the haunting theme "Beneath the Southern Cross" written for the television series "Victory at Sea" telecast by NBC-TV for twenty-six weeks during 1952-1953. Lyrics were added by Oscar Hammerstein and as a song it was introduced by Isabel Bigley and Richard Hayes in the Stage musical "Me and Juliet" and recorded by Perry in May of 1953. The song appears to one of Perry's favourites and he performed it many times 'live' in public performance and on television but he never again recorded it. Unquote: Lyrics: No other love have I, Only my love for you! Only the dream we knew, No other love! Watching the night go by, Wishing that you could be, Watching the night with me, Into the night I cry! Hurry home, Come home to me! Set me free, Free from doubt, And free from ...
