Brazilian Girls Live at Nublu - I've Got a Problem!
The members of Brazilian Girls met in 2003, while jamming together at Nublu. the downtown New York club that has served as their spawning ground. Playing together every week (they still do, when they're in town) they wrote and recorded the twelve originals of Brazilian Girls over a couple of months, letting the nuances of their songs evolve over time. "Being able to play consistently at Nublu and jumping into the studio every few months helped keep the vibe organic and fresh," says drummer Aaron Johnston. "It's a collective." explains Didi of their home base Nublu. "A community, in which musicians, DJs, poets, painters and bonvivants exchange ideas. At Nublu we were able to freely experiment with the music, without restrictions and expectations. That's what made the songs unfold." One of Brazilian Girls' songs, "Homme," first appeared on the 2003 CD Waxpoetic/Nublu Sessions, while another cut, "Lazy Lover' is featured on the Ultra compilation Music to Make Love By, and has been remixed by both Matthew Herbert and Brazilian Girls for release as club singles.

Calibro 35 and Sun Ra Arkestra members jammin at Nublu Club in Istanbul, October 2010. "Certainly dozens of musicians—perhaps hundreds—passed through Sun Ra's bands over the years. Some stayed with him for decades, while others made only a few recordings or performances. Sun Ra was personally responsible for the vast majority of the constant changes in the Arkestra's lineup. According to contrabassist Juni Booth, himself a member of the Arkestra, Sun Ra would not confront any musician whose performance he was unsatisfied with. Instead, Sun Ra would simply gather the entire Arkestra minus the offending musician, and skip town, leaving the fired musician stranded. After repeated instances of US jazz musicians becoming stranded in foreign countries, Sun Ra's unique method of dismissal became a diplomatic liability for the United States. The US State Department was compelled to tell Sun Ra to bring any fired musicians stateside rather than leaving them stranded"

Very hot night with Very hot music, too bad still most of the audience are Italians or Itaian americans, hi s music should be appreciated by larger audience even non Italian speaking. He's so great. He plays here with his always collaboraters Saturnino(bass), Riccardo Onori(guitar) and Gil Olivera(drums), Charles Belinzig (key), Media Noite(persuccion), Gilmar Gomnez(percussion) and Fabio Morgera(trumpet) join them to create great energy. They played here "Wanna be start something", tribute to Michale Jackson who passed away sevral days before. You have to wati a bit in the begining since the bass had a problem.
