CZ-70 .32 ACP semi-auto handgun. This smallish pistol was made in Czechoslovakia in 1973. It uses a 9 round magazine, is double-action, all steel construction (except for the grips), and a decent shooter for what it is.

Part 3 of my vintage .22 rimfire series. This video review is of a 1957 Colt Huntsman .22 automatic pistol. It uses a 10 shot magazine and was produced from 1955-1977 and is closely related to the Colt Woodsman series.

Detailed description of the P7. This video replaced the original one done at the range before the shooting video. This is a Heckler & Koch P7 9mm semi-auto 8 shot pistol. This is one of the ones that was used by the state police of Lower Saxony in Germany until recently when they were traded in for more modern polymer framed HK pistols.

Winchester model 74 .22 LR made from 1938-1955. This one was made in 1948. It's a semi-auto and holds 14 rounds in the magazine located in the stock.

Again, the distance to target is 200 yards. The target is an orange ram shaped metallic silhouette made of steel about the size of a mans hand. When hit it swings back and a metallic snap can be heard if you listen carefully. The ammo is just cheap Federal bulk pack .22 long rifle hollow point sold by Wal-mart in 550 round cartons. Muzzle velocity is about 1280 FPS. Not the most accurate .22 ammo but not bad at all for what little it costs. There is a little bit of variable wind and even that has a noticeably detrimental effect on the projectile's flight at that distance.

The results of the shots taken from 300 yards on the B34 half size silhouette target. The half size target, in a way simulates, shooting at twice the distance. However, at 600 yards wind drift, trajectory,longer time in flight for the projectile, and increased group size comes into effect. I could use some more practice with my trigger squeeze.

Putting 5 rounds into a B34 (half size)silhouette target at 300 yds. Rifle is a Remington model 700PSS in .308 with a Leupold Mk.4 LRT (Long Range Tactical) scope. CZ-452 .22LR @ 200 yards. This is a stretch for a .22 which is normally used out to a max distance of 100 yards and usually less. Past 100 yards the projectile's velocity drops from supersonic to subsonic and experiences turbulence as is passes though the transonic range. This breif period of turbulence erodes accuracy. Also, the bullet drops like a rock past 100 yards. Even though this rifle was sighted in at 100 yards it took about 3 ftl of elevation adujustment to put in on target at 200 yds. Wind drift at this distance is a killer. Any noticable wind will blow that now subsonic little projectile off target to the left or right. Shooting into the wind will lower the point of impact since drag increases . Shooting with the wind lessens drag and causes the bullet to strike above the point of aim. All this has to be evaluated by the shooter for each shot and compensated for .

The resutls of firing 2 magazines (16 rounds) at the IDPA target from 10 yards. In all I put 150 rounds thought it that day and 100 more two days later (today). I'm getting better at it but that pistol is a lot different than a Colt 1911, Sig Sauer, or Glock. It feels different and has a much different method of operation.
