I had the opportunity to interview Mr. Alvin Greene, the newly chosen Democratic nominee for United States Senate from South Carolina. Mr. Greene did not seem to have an adequate grasp of current affairs. In fact, he did not seem to have a grasp at all. He provided me with vague answers when he responded with something that was not the rehearsed spiel about his time in the military and how long he's been thinking of running which he gave more often than not. When I asked him how he managed to raise $10400 in between the time he filed as an indigent and qualified for a public defender in November/December when charged with a felony and the time he filed as a Democratic contender, he began to avoid the question and eventually hung up. He claims to have thought about running for two years, yet he didn't have the $10400 filing fee when he qualified as an indigent. Though he thought about it for two years, he didn't have the money in November/December. This, along with the fact that more votes were cast for Greene as a candidate than were cast in the Senate primary, throws more than just a little suspicion on his integrity as a candidate. I have no doubt. I believe that he is a plant.

I estimate 1000-1500 man hours and £3000 put in to this point. Not really so much in house buying terms (roughly £60/sq m excluding labour).The house was built with maximum regard for the environment and by reciprocation gives us a unique opportunity to live close to nature. Being your own (have a go) architect is a lot of fun and allows you to create and enjoy something which is part of yourself and the land rather than, at worst, a mass produced box designed for maximum profit and convenience of the construction industry. Building from natural materials does away with producers profits and the cocktail of carcinogenic poisons that fill most modern buildings. Main tools used: chainsaw, hammer and 1 inch chisel, little else really. Oh and by the way I am not a builder or carpenter, my experience is only having a go at one similar house 2yrs before and a bit of mucking around inbetween. This kind of building is accessible to anyone. My main relevant skills were being able bodied, having self belief and perseverence and a mate or two to give a lift now and again.This building is one part of a low-impact or permaculture approach to life. This sort of life is about living in harmony with both the natural world and ourselves, doing things simply and using appropriate levels of technology. These sort of low cost <b>...</b>

I have been neglecting my garden due to lack of time. When I got the opportunity to check it today I got quite a surprise. One of my tomato plants had been eaten by a large green caterpillar. "The Green Cockatoo" was filmed at Denham studios in 1937 and starred John Mills and Rene Ray. Despite its short running time (62 min), it was rather more than a quota quickie being directed by William Cameron Menzies immediately after "Things to come". The simple story has Rene Ray arriving in London and then fleeing from the police, after being implicated in the murder of her brother (Robert Newton). Helping her prove her innocence is a cockney spiv (John Mills) who also has the opportunity to do some singing and dancing. If this was an attempt to make a gangster film along the lines of those turned out by Warner Brothers in Hollywood, it was only a partial success. Whilst the fight scenes are quite realistically filmed, John Mills is miscast as the cockney tough guy and doesn't quite project the same menace as say James Cagney. Neverthelss this is an interesting curio, and fans of John Mills will be interested to see him in an early role that is distinctly different from his more normal characterisations. The Green Cockatoo was televised once by the BBC in the 1980s and then subsequently by Carlton Cinema about 10 years ago. Since then it has slipped back into obscurity and is still awaiting an official dvd release. This film was originally protected by the Copyright Acts of 1911 and 1956. Copyright in the UK expired in 1987 and the film is believed to be in the public domain. It is presented here for research purposes only.

You certainly can't miss it on the shelf with its green color. Yes- it is green. Not because of dyes but because of the process the leaf goes through while being cured that maintains the chlorophyll and thus the green color. Normally when I think of a candela I think of a mild blend being involved. The hl from Illusione is certainly not a mild blend which excited me when I saw that there was now an hl with a candela wrapper. I have been very excited to see how the candela plays into the complexity of the hl. Because this is a green cigar, I thought I would have a little fun and make it into a pairing with one of my favorite green liqueurs: Green Chartreuse. Chartreuse is a French liqueur and is composed of distilled alcohol aged with 130 herbal extracts. It was made by the Carthusian Monks at their Grande Chartreuse monastery in the Chartreuse Mountains- where it gets its name. Green Chartreuse gets its flavor from the extracts of 132 plants which is where the chlorophyll comes in giving it a green color. It is also 110 proof- so be warned a drink can go a long way. I noticed a beautiful silky smoothness in the smoke of the cigar right away from lighting it- not to mention an incredible aroma.
