Roy Orbison - You Got It

YOU GOT IT by the great Roy Orbison! From Orbison's multi-platinum album "Mystery Girl" (Available on iTunes! itunes.apple.com You Got It was written by Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty. Recorded in 1988. Roy began his career at Sun Records with Elvis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis in the 1950's. Becoming the biggest selling artist of the early 1960's with a string of hits like "Oh Pretty Woman", "Mean Woman Blues", "Love Hurts", "Only The Lonely" Crying", "Running Scared", "In Dreams", " It's Over", "Blue Angel", "Blue Bayou", and many more. Orbison single-handedly brought us the fashion of sunglasses, popularizing them for the masses. He suffered many tragedies in the late 1960's and in the 1970's retired and was ripped off by numerous music business companies and managers. When he decided to record again, it was one of the most anticipated comebacks in music history. Orbison smashed his way to the top of the modern music charts with "You Got It", "California Blue", She's a Mystery", and "A Love So Beautiful" and "I Drove All Night". The movie "Pretty Woman" became the biggest selling soundtrack to date. More music business lawsuits and record company embargoes pulled Orbison off the radio, off TV, and out of the record stores in the 1990's, but in recent years he has been slowly rising to his proper place at the top thanks to kids and teenagers who have recently rediscovered him. Called both "The True King" and "Rock & Roll's Man in Black", Roy <b>...</b>

Roy Orbison - Oh, Pretty Woman (From "The Last Concert" CD)

www.eagle-rock.com "The Big O" as Roy Orbison became universally known, was one of the most distinctive singers and songwriters of the Rock 'n' Roll era. Starting his career in the late fifties, he really hit the big time at the start of the sixties when a string of wonderful hit singles brought him fame on a worldwide basis. After a quiet period in the seventies he made a comeback in the eighties both as a solo artist and later as a member of the Traveling Wilburys. This live recording, released now for the first time, comes from a concert at the Front Row Theater in Cleveland on December 4th 1988, just two days before his sudden death from a heart attack on December 6th at the age of only 52. Orbison is in fine form delivering many of his best loved songs in his own unique style and with no indication of the tragedy to come. It is a fitting tribute to a truly great artist. Tracklist: 1) Only The Lonely 2) Leah 3) Dream Baby 4) In Dreams 5) Mean Woman Blues 6) Blue Bayou 7) Candyman 8) Crying 9) Ooby Dooby 10) Go, Go, Go (Down The Line) 11) It's Over 12) Working For The Man 13) Lana 14) Oh, Pretty Woman

Roy Orbison - You Got It

Everytime I look into your loving eyes I see a love that money just can't buy. One look from you I drift away I pray that you are here to stay. CHORUS: Anything you want you got it Anything you need you got it Anything at all you got it, baby Everytime I hold you I begin to understand Everything about you tells me I'm your man. I live my life to be with you No one can do the things you do. CHORUS I'm glad to give my love to you I know you feel the way I do. CHORUS 2x

LINK: tinyurl.com Although he shared the same rockabilly roots as Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison went on to pioneer an entirely different brand of country/pop-based rock & roll in the early '60s. What he lacked in charisma and photogenic looks, Orbison made up for in spades with his quavering operatic voice and melodramatic narratives of unrequited love and yearning. In the process, he established rock & roll archetypes of the underdog and the hopelessly romantic loser. These were not only amplified by peers such as Del Shannon and Gene Pitney, but also influenced future generations of roots rockers such as Bruce Springsteen and Chris Isaak, as well as modern country stars the Mavericks. Orbison made his first widely distributed recordings for Sun Records in 1956. Roy was a capable rockabilly singer, and had a small national hit with his first Sun single, "Ooby Dooby." But even then, he was far more comfortable as a ballad singer than as a hepped-up rockabilly jive cat. Other Sun singles met with no success, and by the late '50s he was concentrating primarily on building a career as a songwriter, his biggest early success being "Claudette" (recorded by the Everly Brothers). Roy Orbison - Blue Bayou

Roy Kelton Orbison (April 23, 1936 -- December 6, 1988) was an American singer-songwriter, well known for his distinctive, powerful voice, complex compositions, and dark emotional ballads. Orbison grew up in Texas and began singing in a rockabilly/country & western band in high school until he was signed by Sun Records in Memphis. His greatest success came with Monument Records in the early to mid 1960s when 22 of his songs placed on the Billboard Top Forty, including "Only the Lonely", "Crying", "In Dreams", and "Oh, Pretty Woman". His career stagnated through the 1970s, but several covers of his songs and the use of one in a film by David Lynch revived his career in the 1980s. In 1988, he joined the supergroup Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne and also released a new solo album. He died of a heart attack in December that year, at the zenith of his resurgence. His life was marred by tragedy, including the death of his first wife and two of his children in separate accidents

Dream by the mighty Roy Orbison. Dream, when you're feeling blue. Dream, that's the thing to do. Just watch the smoke rings rise in the air. You'll find your share of memories there. So dream, when the day is through. Dream, and they might come true. Things never are as bad as they seem. So dream, dream dream... Dream, when the day is through. Dream, and they might come true. In Dreams - Roy Orbison

Roy Kelton Orbison was an influential Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter, guitarist and a pioneer of rock and roll whose recording career spanned more than four decades. Orbison is best known for the songs, "Ooby Dooby," "Only the Lonely," "In Dreams," "Oh, Pretty Woman," "Crying," "Running Scared," "You Got It". He was known for his smooth high baritone voice, with a range of at least two and a half octaves. He was rarely seen on stage without his trademark tinted prescription glasses. In 1987, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 1989, he was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. A candy-colored clown they call the sandman Tiptoes to my room every night Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper Go to sleep. everything is all right. I close my eyes, then I drift away Into the magic night. I softly say A silent prayer like dreamers do. Then I fall asleep to dream my dreams of you. In dreams I walk with you. in dreams I talk to you. In dreams youre mine. all of the time, were together In dreams, in dreams. But just before the dawn, I awake and find you gone. I cant help it, I cant help it, if I cry. I remember that you said goodbye. Its too bad that all these things, can only happen in my dreams Only in dreams in beautiful dreams.
