Breaching Orca Whales
I counted 30 breaches in this amazing moment of the orcas going crazy. A whale expert who looked at the video said there is a moment when one male whale flips over another female at about 50 seconds in. Then the orca wedding begins and the dancing breaching takes place.It was as if the big orcas were guiding the ferry around the active young orcas.I guess that why this body of water is called Active Pass.

Just like people. It's a very important demand for people. And it seems the same important for orcas. Luna left alone, he was boring, and started to contact with people. It's interesting how they understand that people (and maybe some other animals, like dogs) are the same intelligent beings. Amazing is that even little orca-kids understand and distinguish people from other beings. Maybe did Luna learned something from his family, adult orcas? Maybe do they have a sort of lessons like in a school where adult orcas teach the kids not only rules of survival and hunting, but some basic knowledge about the world in general? For example, maybe they teach their kids that people are intelligent beings like orca and it's not good to attack people and consider them as prey. A Southland family has witnessed a rare and spectacular display of animal prowess just metres from a popular fishing and swimming beach. They are images that would send shivers down the spine of any keen beach goer this summer. A group of sharks were being hunted by an orca just metres from Tuatapere Beach. For the Robertson family the spectacular scene was a reality that played out right in front of them. Local David Evans said he was just sitting down to breakfast when farmers from down the road came up and said they had been watching whales. "We all piled in the truck and grabbed a camera, grabbed the video and went down to the beach and just started shooting," says Mr Evans. What happened next was what surprised them most. On film the orca appears to herd the sharks up towards the beach, much to the delight of their dog Flea. One shark ended up in the shallows clearly exhausted from its fight for survival; it struggled to stay up right in the waves. SOURCE: www.3news.co.nz
