Jeffrey Osborne (born March 9, 1948 in Providence, Rhode Island) is an American funk and R&B musician, and former lead singer of the band LTD Osborne is the youngest of 12 children and is part of a musical family. He has five brothers and six sisters, some of whom went on to have music careers (his brother Billy was an LTD bandmate). Osborne's father, Clarence "Legs" Osborne, was a popular trumpeter who played with Lionel Hampton, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington. Osborne started his music career in 1969 with a band called Love Men Ltd., who would later become known as LTD The band recorded memorable hits such as "Everytime I Turn Around (Back In Love Again)", "Love Ballad" and "(Holdin' On) When Love Is Gone". The Osborne Brothers, Sonny Osborne (b. October 29, 1937) and Bobby Osborne (b. December 9, 1931), were an influential and popular bluegrass act during the 1960s and 1970s. They are probably best known for their #33 1968 country hit song, "Rocky Top", written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant and named after a mountain in Tennessee Although the Osbornes were born in Hyden, Kentucky, they grew up near Dayton, Ohio and had their first experiences as entertainers in southwestern Ohio.[2] When Bobby was drafted into the military, Sonny went to work with the "Father of Bluegrass Music" Bill Monroe in 1952. Upon the return of Bobby from service in 1953, the Osbornes teamed up with Jimmy Martin performing at radio stations WROL in Knoxville, Tennessee and WJR in Detroit, Michigan.[3][4] At their only session together the Osbornes and Martin recorded six songs for RCA Victor on November 16, 1954.[5] Soon, the Osbornes left Martin and moved to Wheeling, West Virginia in the late 1955 where they performed on WWVA Jamboree until Christmas together with Charlie Bailey.[6] They returned to Dayton in early 1956 playing the local clubs together with guitarist Enos Johnson. Prototype of the first self-contained portable computer, the visionary production of publishing and software entrepreneur Adam Osborne and computer engineer Lee Felsenstein, designer (in 1975) of the basic display architecture for personal computers. This is one of only ten such prototypes produced, as described in an email to PBA by Felsenstein on February 12, 2009, I can confirm that this is one of the first ten prototype units built, known as the "metal case" units. I don't think they had serial numbers. The cases were made by Galgon Industries in Hayward but their quote for production was prohibitive, so work immediately commenced on the plastic cases. The circuit board was ready in January of 1981 and these were built shortly thereafter. They were used in the first ads ("the guy on the left doesn't stand a chance") in which the veins on the hand of the guy on the right bulge as he struggles with the 30-pound weight of his transformer-powered luggable. These were the units we took to the West Coast Computer Faire and the National Computer Conference in early 1981.
