SONY PMW F3 Test Reel
This SONY PMW F3 test reel is shot and made by Prof./DP Jae-mo Koo(jaemokoo@me.com) for Sony Korea's launching show of PMW-F3. Mostly F3 bundle lenses(35,50,85mm) had been used. Final Cut Pro had been used for editing. Only several image cuts had been color graded a bit in FCP and the others are just original camera footages.

Sony FS100 and PMW-F3 side by side tests
The main aim of the shoot was to see how the FS100 held up against the F3. We shot on a bright sunny day by the River Thames and again in the evening in a typically lit living room. There were no big surprises. The FS100 is remarkably close to the F3. You would have no problems cutting between the two of them in a project. PMW-500 XDCAM HD camcorder review, with footage.
This is a review I did of the new PMW-500. I was in between shoots when I did this so it's a bit rough and ready. The PMW-500 is Sony's new 50Mb/s 4:2:2 solid state camcorder. It's really nice, I like it a lot, being a combination of the excellent PDW-700 sensors with the low power and light weight PMW-350 back end.

Adaptimax with 1000mm lens attached to Sony PMW-EX3
The moon shot with an Adaptimax and 170-500mm and 1000mm prime lens attached to a Sony PMW-EX3. The Adaptimax gives a magnification factor of X5.4 meaning the 1000mm prime turns into a 5400mm Lens!! The shimmering effect is caused by the filming the moon at a 45 degree angle through the earths atmosphere. More footage at adaptimax.com.

Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM EX Camcorder from 2008 Part 1
Here is the first half of my long-awaited video about the sony EX1 full-HD camcorder. This camcorder is the best camcorder I have ever used and is simply the best in terms of picture quality vs. recording time. The details you can see are amazing, and the tonality is hard to describe - almost movie-like with a sense of presence and involvement with the scene that make the camera become "invisible" when you experience it on the big screen in 24p! I highly recommend this camcorder to anyone interested in film or music video production and who wants a camera that is closer to the prosumer price range.

Sony to release New PMW-EX3 with interchangeable lenses
Sony announced the release of a new camcorder in its XDCAM EX series, the PMW-EX3 at NAB 2008 in Las Vegas. This is the second model from Sony to use its flash memory card, the SxS media format. It is a step-up model from the PMW-EX1. The PMW-EX3 is 1080i/720P switchable. There are connections for Genlock and Time Code, making it suitable for multi-camera shoots. It has a maximum aperture of f/1.9, with control rings for zoom, focus, and aperture. Also included with the PMW-EX3 is the Clip Browser Ver.2.0 software, which will allow XDCAM EX video files to be used in a DV editing workflow. There are optional plug-ins for exporting XDCAM EX files on SxS cards to Professional Optical Disc, and another to allow for simple upload to the web. The Sony PMW-EX3 camcorder retails for $13000. The PMW-EX30 recorder/player unit retails for $30000. All products are expected to be available in the third quarter of 2008.

Sony EX Series PMW- F3 Professional Camera
Juan Martinez from Sony Electronics presents the NXCAM Super 35mm Development camera optomised for motion videos. It has a very shallow e-mount which allows all the DSLR lenses from the alpha line and legacy FD and Nikon or Minolta lenses as well. The camera runs well for long times without heat issues or noise issues. The camera has 1080 (60p) capability with 24, 30 and 60 frames per second including undercranking and overcranking from 1 fps to 60fps to solid state media. The second camera he presented was the EX PMW F3, which also has a super 35mm sensor, and an LCD on the side. The camera has lots of improvements in both technology and functionality and gives lots of options to experiment with Nikon, Sony or Canon lenses via adaptors.

For our test shoot we'd been granted access to the RAF museum at Cosford. We'd planned to spend a whole day in a bustling museum but thanks to the snowfall the museum was closed to the public and our access was reduced from a day to an hour (a big thanks to Pete Bunting for getting us in at all), so right at the moment when we needed to be taking our time to set up and review each shot carefully I was forced to adopt a very brisk ENG shooting style.
