We are all prostitutes - The pop group

First heard this song on ashes to ashes, couldn't find it anywhere online, eventually tracked down a copy and uploaded it to youtube. Lyrics (www.wedigdixon.com) We Are All Prostitutes Everyone has their price And you too will learn to live the lie Aggression Competition Ambition Consumer fascism Capitalism is the most barbaric of all religions Department stores are our new cathedrals Our cars are martyrs to the cause We are all prostitutes Our children shall rise up against us Because we are the ones to blame We are the ones to blame They will give us a new name We shall be Hypocrites hypocrites hypocrites

The Pop Group - (1979) - We Are Time

Artist: The Pop Group Album: Y Release Date: 1979 Label: WP Abrasive, but interesting, the Pop Group's debut is perhaps the most succinct summation of their angry and defiant approach to rock & roll. Although at times resembling the discordant funk of fellow post-punk radicals Gang of Four, the Pop Group leave rhythm behind almost as quickly as they find it, and the result is a clattering din of sound resembling an aural collage. The longish, guitar-driven track "We Are Time" is the strongest cut, establishing a solid groove that won't let go.

The Babys - Every Time I Think Of You .HQ

The Babys were a British rock/pop group that broke through in the US in the fall of 1977 with their hit, "Isn't it Time", followed by Everytime I Think of You", both of which reached #13 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The 1976-1978 Babys line-up consisted of vocalist/bassist John Waite, drummer Tony Brock, Keyboard player/guitarist Michael Corby, and guitarist Wally Stocker. From 1979-1981, the Babys line-up consisted of vocalist Waite, drummer Brock, bassist Ricky Phillips, guitarist Stocker and keyboardist Jonathan Cain. There are two stories regarding the origin of the band and the source of the band's name. Founding member Mike Corby places the origin of the idea for the band at Smalls Café on the Fulham Road in London in 1973 during a chance meeting with manager the late Adrian Millar. An agreement was signed between Corby and Millar on September 4, 1974 and auditions were held to fill out the remaining members.[1] The names "Cry Babys" and "Big Babys" were also proposed with Millar ultimately deciding on "The Babys." In a 1979 Hit Parader magazine interview, Waite stated, [T]he name was meant to be a joke. We took the name simply because the record companies wouldn't listen to any bands they thought were rock & roll. I mean, they wanted sure-fire teen bands, pre-teen bands. We couldn't get anybody down to hear us to get a record deal, so we called ourselves The Babys. We thought we'd keep the name just for two weeks. Then, the word got around in London that ...

VALENTINES Aussie bubblegum Bon Scott AC/DC

Perth pop group The Valentines was, for a brief period, one of the most popular bands in the country. Although they started out a energetic soul/R&B band, their best known image was associated with the so-called "bubblegum pop" phenomenon of 1968-70. But there was a wild side to the band which was evident in their live performances (and their off-stage carousing). These days, of course, they're best known by reference to the fact that one of the singers ended up in a little band called AC/DC - although the enormous interest in them has resulted in many previously unreleased tracks becoming available in recent years. The Valentines formed in Perth in mid-1966, bringing together members of three leading local beat groups: Scott and Milson were from The Spektors, Lovegrove, Ward and Cooksey from The Winztons, and Findlay from top WA band Ray Hoff & The Off Beats. Playing a mixture of soul, R&B and mod covers, by the start of 1967 they were already Perth's top group. A major drawcard was the double-vocal attack of dynamic frontmen Bon Scott and Vince Lovegrove, and within a few weeks of their live debut they were packing in crowds

All Angels "Windmills Of Your Mind"

All Angels are a British classical pop group formed in 2005, consisting of Charlotte Ritchie, Melanie Nakhla, Laura Wright, and Daisy Chute. The group's style is classical crossover music, with a repertoire spanning classical, choral, opera and pop including Franz Schubert's Ellens dritter Gesang, Agnus Dei (the choral arrangement of Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings) and the Sancta Maria intermezzo from Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana, along with the Flower Duet from Léo Delibes' Lakmé and the Barcarolle from Jacques Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann, plus pop songs such as Robbie Williams' Angels, Fleetwood Mac's Songbird and Prince's Nothing Compares 2 U. "The Windmills of Your Mind" (Les moulins de mon cœur) is a song with words and music by Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman and Michel Legrand from the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair. Noel Harrison performed the song for the film score. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1968. (Harrison's father, the British actor Rex Harrison, had performed the previous year's Oscar-winning Talk to the Animals). Dusty Springfield's version of the song is also well known, although it has been remade by singers such as Alison Moyet, Swing Out Sister, Edward Woodward and Sting, whose version was used in the 1999 remake of the same film. Dusty Springfield's version appears on the soundtrack to Breakfast on Pluto (2006). The song illustrates a person's mental state after a romantic break-up, relating the way ...

Channel 8 News on Olivia Ong

Olivia Ong is a Chinese Singaporean singer. She sings mostly in English but developed her career singing in English and, later, Japanese. In addition, she has also released rare tracks, recorded in Mandarin Chinese, which can be found on limited edition albums. Likened to Seiko Matsuda, she won a singing contest and was signed to a Japanese recording company S2S Pte Ltd at only 15. Olivia, along with 2 other Singaporean girls formed the Japanese pop group, Mirai. Their first single, Open Up Your Mind, was one of the theme songs in the Japanese anime Gensoumaden Saiyuki. After taking her O-level examinations in Singapore, Olivia moved to Japan to further her studies as well as her career as a solo artist. In Singapore, she became a member of a Japanese pop (J-pop) group called Mirai, before she released her bestselling début, A Girl Meets Bossa Nova at only 19.[1] With her sultry, soulful, pristine and innocent vocals, she reinterprets Frank Sinatra's hits such as "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars", among other jazz and pop numbers. She is one of the new wave of Singaporean talent being exported internationally. So far, Olivia is the only pop sensation exported exclusively to Japan; previous stars such as Mavis Hee, Kit Chan, Tanya Chua, Joi Chua, Stefanie Sun, Michelle Saram etc., have only been exporting to the Greater Chinese market.
