Jewish settlers shoot Palestinians as Israeli soldiers stand idle

In the latest scandal involving the Israeli military, soldiers stand by and refuse to intervene as extremist Jewish settlers open fire on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. A video clip released by the Israeli human rights group B'Tselem shows armed settlers from Yitzhar settlements, near Nablus, attacked the nearby village of Asira al-Qibliya over the weekend and threw rocks at Palestinian homes, sparking clashes in the area.

Palestinians accuse Israeli settlers for eating up lands

Palestinians in the West Bank stand by and watch as Jewish settlers continue to claim land rights and demolish their property, leaving some homeless and without better prospects and diminishing chances of peace between both sides. Palestinians say the land is privately owned but Israeli settlement plans have exposed the deep division between the two sides. The community of Bani Nuaim which houses around 30 families is serene and families continue to go on with their everyday lives. Palestinians say this land was theirs and has been taken from them illegally. "Each morning when I come to this place, really I start crying. It's my land for many many years and that I know of my family owned this land maybe three or four hundred years ago. And suddenly, almost twenty years ago now, we can't even get close to the land," said Harbi Ibrahim Mustafa Hasan, one of the land owners. Hasan, along with other private owners like him, took their case to Israel's High Court. A ruling in their favor called for the settlers to vacate by May 1 and their homes to be destroyed -- but the settlers appealed. "Demolishing the homes is not justice. If justice were to be done, then the Supreme court will wait until the case finishes in the district court and the case is decided based on proof and evidence and not on hearsay," said Judy Simon, settler. According to analysts the Israeli government is pressuring the court into stalling the case so that new laws can be formulated to enable the ...

Palestinian mechanic creates vintage-style cars

A Palestinian car enthusiast and self-taught mechanic, can be found in the West Bank city of Hebron building vintage-style cars made from used car parts. Farid Junidi said his passion lies in designing and constructing vintage cars. The 50-year old creates unique vehicles that have got the town talking and heads turning when the car drives by. "My idea was to create something unusual in the city, something that we do not have," Farid said standing in his garage. "The idea was also to show that we can create many things like cars, especially cars that you don't normally see on the streets. I like my job and because I wanted people to know more about my job, I started to create these cars," he said. The 'Junidi 1' is the car enthusiast's first invention, designed as well as built by the man himself, using very basic equipment like body repair tools and a welding machine from his garage. This automotive masterpiece took eight months to build and holds a modern Nissan engine inside the body of the car but its exterior dates back to 1937. Junidi says the car is part of many families' happy memories as it was used during their wedding ceremonies. "Young grooms use this car on their wedding day. We use the car to collect the bride on the wedding day," he said. The car is expected to attract people from the city of Hebron for special events such as weddings. The 'Junidi 1' underwent an official test drive in February and can reach speeds of around 120 kilometers per hour. Junidi ...

Debunking the Palestine Lie

Learn more here: tinyurl.com Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has launched an international campaign to achieve recognition by the United Nations for an independent Palestinian state. Abbas and his international supporters claim that only Israel (with the United States) stands in the way of this act of historical justice, which would finally bring about peace in the Middle East. This video debunks the Palestinians' claim and shows that Abbas has been lying about the origins and history of the conflict. Palestinian leaders have rejected partition plans that would have given them much more land for their independent state than the Jews were offered for theirs. Rather than being the innocent victims of a "dispossession" at the hands of the Israelis, the Palestinians rejected reasonable compromises and instead pursued their aim of getting rid of the only Jewish state in the world. Palestinian Hunger Strike Ends

Via Reuters: "Most of some 1600 prisoners, a third of the 4800 Palestinians in Israeli jails, began refusing food on April 17 although a few had been fasting much longer - up to 77 days. Their protest centered on demands for more family visits, an end to solitary confinement and an end to so-called "administrative detention", a practice that has drawn international criticism on human rights grounds. Palestinian officials said Egypt had drafted an agreement in Cairo with representatives of the Palestinian prisoners, and that inmates met during the day and had agreed to the terms. There was no immediate word from the prisoners as to whether any had actually ended their strike. An Egyptian official involved in the talks said that under Monday's deal to end the strike, Israel had agreed to end solitary confinement for 19 prisoners and lifted a ban on visits to prisoners by relatives living in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip...".* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down. ICC rejects Palestinian request to investigate crimes within its territories

The International Criminal Court's General Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo on Monday said the court will not accept a Palestinian demand to investigate alleged war crimes by Israel since July 2002 until Palestine is recognize as a state by the UN General Assembly. "In order to proceed we need the General Assembly of the UN accepting Palestine as an observer state. As soon as this is done we can proceed," Ocampo told Al Arabiya's New York Bureau Chief Talal al-Haj in an inclusive interview. "There is a problem because In order to proceed I need Palestine recognized as a state because I am not the prosecutor of the world, I am the prosecutor of the countries who accept my jurisdiction. I need a country accepting me and then I investigate the crimes," the prosecutor said. In Jan. 22, 2009, the Palestinian Authority (PA) submitted declaration to the International Criminal Court (ICC) under Article 12(3) of the Rome Statute which allows States not party to the Statute to accept the Court's jurisdiction. The PA's declaration stated: 'The Government of Palestine hereby recognizes the jurisdiction of the Court for the purpose of identifying, prosecuting and judging the authors and accomplices of crimes committed on the territory of Palestine since 1 July 2002. As a consequence, the Government of Palestine will cooperate with the Court without delay or exceptions in conformity with Chapter 9.' To see more go to www.youtube.com Follow us on Facebook (goo.gl or Twitter (www.twitter.com For Suad Amiry, a former member of the Palestine peace delegation, the lack of progress at the UN is frustrating. "Neither the Americans nor the Europeans have been fair in telling Israel enough. We find Obama telling us we are taking short cuts." Meanwhile, life in the West Bank is still precarious, with many living in fear of attacks from Israeli settlers. "They have always come at night, in darkness to attack us. We could not even sleep because of fear", says one woman. Zakaria Zubeidi, a former militant in the Palestinian al-Aqsa Brigades wants a single state, without occupation and with equal rights, but believes this will probably never happen. The Story of Palestine

When the United Nations, in 1977, proclaimed 29 November of each year as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, it was a clear admission of guilt towards this people. It was recognition that the Palestinian people deserve international solidarity and support, in the name of justice and rights. This was merely one small event in a long story. The story of Palestine and its people is one that will go down in history. In fact it has already started to do just that. One might say that the victor is the one that writes history. The victor in this case will inevitably be justice, and justice is at the core of the Palestinian struggle against apartheid, colonialism and oppression. And as in every episode in history, everyone will be mentioned according to their positions, and more importantly their deeds with respect to each story. In the day of solidarity, let us remember that.

Moses was a Muslim who led Palestinian Muslims out of Egypt and liberated Palestine

Interview with Dr. Omar Ja'ara, lecturer at Al-Najah University in Nablus, and specialist in Israeli affairs on PA TV: "We must make clear to the world that David in the Hebrew Bible is not connected to David in the Quran, Solomon in the Hebrew Bible is not connected to Solomon in the Quran, and neither is Saul or Joshua son of Nun [of the Bible]. We have a great leader, Saul, [in the Quran] who defeated the nation of giants and killed Goliath. This is a great Muslim victory. The Muslims of the Children of Israel went out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses, and unfortunately, many researchers deny the Exodus of those oppressed people who were liberated by a great leader, like Moses the Muslim, the believing leader, the great Muslim, who was succeeded by Saul, the leader of these Muslims in liberating Palestine. This was the first Palestinian liberation through armed struggle to liberate Palestine from the nation of giants led by Goliath. This is our logic and this is our culture." Israeli strike 'kills Palestinian boy' in new Gaza assault

www.euronews.com A 12-year-old Palestinian boy has been killed in a third successive day of Israeli strikes on Gaza, according to local medical sources. Another person was injured. It brings to 17 the number of dead in the Israeli bombardment since Friday. The death of a Palestinian militant whose car was targeted by Israeli forces in Gaza City has sparked the worst violence the area has seen for almost a year, with Israel on the receiving end of sustained rocket attacks. The Israeli army confirmed strikes have been carried out and said it was checking reports that a boy had died. He's said to have been killed in northern Gaza. A Palestinian militant reportedly died in a separate attack. The escalating violence has brought calls for a ceasefire from the UN, the EU, the Palestinian Authority and Egypt. Militant groups in Gaza, vowing revenge for the Israeli strikes, have fired more than 100 rockets into southern Israel since Friday. Six people have been injured, one seriously. The police say several more projectiles have been fired into Israeli territory on Sunday. Some 25 were intercepted on Saturday before they landed in Israel, according to the military. The country's defence minister Ehud Barak said its defence system had proved its effectiveness, adding that Israel would strike all those who target Israeli civilians. Cameras vs Fists: Can technology save Palestinians?

The Israeli government has vowed to end systematic attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the Occupied Territories, but has done little to curb the violence. Now an Israeli human rights group is using technology to tackle the problem. Israel is continuing construction of new homes for its settlers in occupied Palestinian territory, despite numerous calls from the UN and many national governments to stop the practice, which contravenes international law. The issue is one of the major stumbling blocks to peace negotiations between the two sides. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to crack down on Jewish extremism in the West Bank, but with his government supporting settlement expansion, his promise means precious little to those on the receiving end of the violence. The reality on the ground is that Palestinians living close to those settlements are facing daily aggression on the part of their Israeli neighbors, while the Israeli security forces turn a blind eye to the attacks. Some Israelis are critical of the policy which allows this to continue. The Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem is doing its part in trying to curb the violence. It has distributed cameras to dozens of Palestinians to capture glimpses of everyday reality in the occupied zone. The goal is to gather evidence and hold Israeli settlers and soldiers attacking Palestinians accountable, reports RT's Paula Slier. RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com

Palestinian 'Key of Return' on show at Berlin Biennale

Palestinian 'Key of Return' on show at Berlin Biennale A huge key that weighs approximately a ton and symbolizes the right of return for Palestinian refugees was transported from the Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem to the Berlin Biennale in Germany. The key, which is nine meters long and has inscriptions in several languages, started its journey in March when it was dismounted from its place on top of the camp gate. The steel key was made by Palestinian refugees at the Aida Social Youth Center in Bethlehem. For center manager Monther Amayra, displaying the key in Berlin gives Palestinians a chance to communicate their aspirations to the world. "It is a major event expected to receive more than two million visitors who will be acquainted with the demands of the Palestinian people, on top of which is the right of return." Temporary peace agreements between Palestinians and Israel have often overlooked the issue of the return of refugees, whose numbers are estimated at 4.5 million. Palestinian Supporters Dodge Debate On Israel

News contributor and Middle East expert Erick Stackelbeck visits Portland State University to discuss Israel. Students United for Palestinian Equal Rights (SUPER) and factions of other student groups such as the International Socialist Organization plan a silent protest. After Stackelbeck encourages them to stay for a Q&A and debate, they walk out in the middle of the presentation, and refuse to engage Stackelbeck or answer questions from the media, instead they hurl a couple of random insults. BREAKING: Other video has emerged from another YouTube channel, where they compare Stackelbeck to the KKK at the protest planning session and the post event discussion!
