Jewish settlers shoot Palestinians as Israeli soldiers stand idle

In the latest scandal involving the Israeli military, soldiers stand by and refuse to intervene as extremist Jewish settlers open fire on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. A video clip released by the Israeli human rights group B'Tselem shows armed settlers from Yitzhar settlements, near Nablus, attacked the nearby village of Asira al-Qibliya over the weekend and threw rocks at Palestinian homes, sparking clashes in the area.

Palestinians accuse Israeli settlers for eating up lands

Palestinians in the West Bank stand by and watch as Jewish settlers continue to claim land rights and demolish their property, leaving some homeless and without better prospects and diminishing chances of peace between both sides. Palestinians say the land is privately owned but Israeli settlement plans have exposed the deep division between the two sides. The community of Bani Nuaim which houses around 30 families is serene and families continue to go on with their everyday lives. Palestinians say this land was theirs and has been taken from them illegally. "Each morning when I come to this place, really I start crying. It's my land for many many years and that I know of my family owned this land maybe three or four hundred years ago. And suddenly, almost twenty years ago now, we can't even get close to the land," said Harbi Ibrahim Mustafa Hasan, one of the land owners. Hasan, along with other private owners like him, took their case to Israel's High Court. A ruling in their favor called for the settlers to vacate by May 1 and their homes to be destroyed -- but the settlers appealed. "Demolishing the homes is not justice. If justice were to be done, then the Supreme court will wait until the case finishes in the district court and the case is decided based on proof and evidence and not on hearsay," said Judy Simon, settler. According to analysts the Israeli government is pressuring the court into stalling the case so that new laws can be formulated to enable the ...

Palestinian Hunger Strike Ends

Via Reuters: "Most of some 1600 prisoners, a third of the 4800 Palestinians in Israeli jails, began refusing food on April 17 although a few had been fasting much longer - up to 77 days. Their protest centered on demands for more family visits, an end to solitary confinement and an end to so-called "administrative detention", a practice that has drawn international criticism on human rights grounds. Palestinian officials said Egypt had drafted an agreement in Cairo with representatives of the Palestinian prisoners, and that inmates met during the day and had agreed to the terms. There was no immediate word from the prisoners as to whether any had actually ended their strike. An Egyptian official involved in the talks said that under Monday's deal to end the strike, Israel had agreed to end solitary confinement for 19 prisoners and lifted a ban on visits to prisoners by relatives living in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip...".* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down. ICC rejects Palestinian request to investigate crimes within its territories

The International Criminal Court's General Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo on Monday said the court will not accept a Palestinian demand to investigate alleged war crimes by Israel since July 2002 until Palestine is recognize as a state by the UN General Assembly. "In order to proceed we need the General Assembly of the UN accepting Palestine as an observer state. As soon as this is done we can proceed," Ocampo told Al Arabiya's New York Bureau Chief Talal al-Haj in an inclusive interview. "There is a problem because In order to proceed I need Palestine recognized as a state because I am not the prosecutor of the world, I am the prosecutor of the countries who accept my jurisdiction. I need a country accepting me and then I investigate the crimes," the prosecutor said. In Jan. 22, 2009, the Palestinian Authority (PA) submitted declaration to the International Criminal Court (ICC) under Article 12(3) of the Rome Statute which allows States not party to the Statute to accept the Court's jurisdiction. The PA's declaration stated: 'The Government of Palestine hereby recognizes the jurisdiction of the Court for the purpose of identifying, prosecuting and judging the authors and accomplices of crimes committed on the territory of Palestine since 1 July 2002. As a consequence, the Government of Palestine will cooperate with the Court without delay or exceptions in conformity with Chapter 9.' Michael Coren: Jordan is the Palestinian state

Palestinian Mudar Zahran joins Michael Coren to discuss the Palestinian state, (Trans)Jordan. =============== In most countries with a record of human rights violations, vulnerable minorities are the typical victims. This has not been the case in Jordan where a Palestinian majority has been discriminated against by the ruling Hashemite dynasty, propped up by a minority Bedouin population, from the moment it occupied Judea and Samaria during the 1948 war (these territories were annexed to Jordan in April 1950 to become the kingdom's West Bank). As a result, the Palestinians of Jordan find themselves discriminated against in government and legislative positions as the number of Palestinian government ministers and parliamentarians decreases; there is not a single Palestinian serving as governor of any of Jordan's twelve governorships.[3] Jordanian Palestinians are encumbered with tariffs of up to 200 percent for an average family sedan, a fixed 16-percent sales tax, a high corporate tax, and an inescapable income tax. Most of their Bedouin fellow citizens, meanwhile, do not have to worry about most of these duties as they are servicemen or public servants who get a free pass. Servicemen or public employees even have their own government-subsidized stores, which sell food items and household goods at lower prices than what others have to pay,[4] and the Military Consumer Corporation, which is a massive retailer restricted to Jordanian servicemen, has not increased prices ...

Cameras vs Fists: Can technology save Palestinians?

The Israeli government has vowed to end systematic attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the Occupied Territories, but has done little to curb the violence. Now an Israeli human rights group is using technology to tackle the problem. Israel is continuing construction of new homes for its settlers in occupied Palestinian territory, despite numerous calls from the UN and many national governments to stop the practice, which contravenes international law. The issue is one of the major stumbling blocks to peace negotiations between the two sides. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to crack down on Jewish extremism in the West Bank, but with his government supporting settlement expansion, his promise means precious little to those on the receiving end of the violence. The reality on the ground is that Palestinians living close to those settlements are facing daily aggression on the part of their Israeli neighbors, while the Israeli security forces turn a blind eye to the attacks. Some Israelis are critical of the policy which allows this to continue. The Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem is doing its part in trying to curb the violence. It has distributed cameras to dozens of Palestinians to capture glimpses of everyday reality in the occupied zone. The goal is to gather evidence and hold Israeli settlers and soldiers attacking Palestinians accountable, reports RT's Paula Slier. RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com

www.euronews.com A weekend of attacks and reprisals between Israelis and Palestinians has left at least 20 people dead. All of those killed were Palestinians. Most of those who died were said to be militants, but it is reported two, including a teenage boy, were civilians. Hospital sources in Gaza say 25 people were injured when an Israeli missile hit a house in northern Gaza. The violence erupted after militants fired rockets into Israel on Friday. There were no casualties in that attack, but Israel's response was swift and emphatic. Several members of Palestinian armed groups were killed in airstrikes that followed, including one leader. Why Palestinians Want This Video Removed

The Arabs who occupy the land of Israel want this video to be removed . Feel free to copy this video and help spread the truth the palestinians seek to deny. Jerusalem : Muslims and Jews Or : How and why palestinians desecrate the Temple Mount and Jerusalem. One of the most important videos on youtube that sheds light on the Jewish-Arab conflict. Jerusalem has been a Jewish holy city since the days of King David . 3000 years ago. At that time the Arabs were still pagans who used to worship idols such as Al Uzza, Al Lat and Al Mannat at the Kaaba. (Jahiliyya period) In the year 638 CE the muslims captured Jerusalem from the Byzantines and built a mosque on the site of the Jewish holy Temple. While Jews pray facing Jerusalem and the Temple mount , Muslims pray towards Mecca. When Muslims pray in Jerusalem they point their behind to the Dome of the rock and the temple mount. An Islamic holy site ? Palestinians use the temple mount as a playground where they have picnics and play soccer. Sary Nusseibeh , palestinian professor and the president of the Al Quds university had to go underground after admitting that the temple mount is a Jewish holy site. Ibn Taymiyyah (1263-1328) , whose writings influenced the Wahhabi movement in arabia ruled that sacred islamic sites are to be found only in the Arabian Peninsula and that " in Jerusalem, there is not a place one calls sacred , and the same holds true for the tombs of Hebron" Jerusalem is mentioned in the Bible 667 times , while ...

'Israel grabbing any chance to sabotage Palestinian UN vote'

Hamas has announced it's pulling out from a de-facto ceasefire with Israel. The statement comes after two days of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. More than a dozen Palestinians have been killed in the strikes, reportedly including children. Israel began its campaign following a series of terrorist attacks at the Egyptian border that killed eight Israelis on Thursday. Officials pinned the blame on a Gaza-based group called the Popular Resistance Committees for the incident. Following the first air strikes, Palestinians responded by launching more than 20 rocket attacks. The rise in tension comes less than a month before a vital UN vote on the recognition of the Palestinian State. Gaza-based political analyst, Dr Hani Al Basoos, thinks Israel wants to sabotage the vote and divert attention from recent domestic unrest.
