The Anton Pann group wishes to rediscover and promote old Romanian music since medieval period to the end of 19th century (this songs have never been sung), and enhance the value of Romanian musical tradition by trying to play as close to the musical ethos of the time. The orchestras repertoire is varied, including the authors like: Dimitrie Cantemir, George Ucenescu, Anton Pann, Ioan Caianu as from unknown volumes like: Codex Moldavae and Codex Valahae, as well as Western and Eastern medieval songs. The band also researches and performs songs with religious and secular character, like carols and other holiday habits, trying to expose to the world, as close as possible to reality, this musical jewels.

Since 2004, the Vocal-Instrumental Old Music Orchestra Anton Pann has been laboring to discover and reveal to the public around the world the long-forgotten, but unique musical tradition of the Balkans. The conductor Constantin Raileanu, together with a group of talented musicians, have researched old manuscripts, hidden in Romanias libraries or monasteries. They transposed these findings into sounds of ancient medieval instruments and, with the wonderful voices of youth, played them as close as possible to the musical ethos of the time.

Slalom is one of Carter Pann's best known pieces for the modern wind ensemble. Intricately layered with many themes, the composer has created a work to capture the thrill of downhill skiing. Anarkali Vocals: Shabnam Majeed & Javed Ali Khan Director: Shoib Mansoor No tale in the history of Mughal India enjoys so much popularity as the royal romance of Crown Prince Salim (later Emperor Jahangir) and Anarkali. It is believed that the original name of Anarkali was Nadira or Sharfunnisa and that she received the name or the title of Anarkali (literally meaning pomegranate bud) for her beauty. The popular version of the story runs thus. Anarkali was a dancer at the court of Emperor Akbar. The emperor's eldest son and heir apparent, Salim, fell in love with her. Akbar did not approve of the relation as the dancer was of lowly birth and hence considered not fit to be the queen of the would-be emperor of Hindustan. But the lovers did not pay heed to the emperor's disapproval. At last, Anarkali was sentenced to death. She was bricked alive in a wall. This basic story-line is variously told with minor variations in detail. However, one may be surprised to note that the name of Anarkali is not even mentioned in the historical details of the period of Akbar or in the memoirs of Jahangir. The believers in the story mention a tomb in Lahore which is popularly considered to be that of Anarkali. It is situated on the premises of the Punjab Civil Secretariat and now houses the Punjab Records Office. It is an octagonal building covered with a dome. At each corner of the building is an octagonal turret surmounted with a kiosk. In olden times, this building was surrounded by a <b>...</b>

This song was requested by tootoolay. Tough song and not my usual style but I gave it my best. Forgive lots of singing reflexes and weird facial expression when I changed pitches. The song is about a conflict between the heaven and the hell. Two main characters of the song are the master of heaven and the master of hell. They are in-laws and don't like each other. Once a year, hell dwellers celebrate a festival of red (Tha-Koot) flower blossoms at the end of summer and beginning of raining season. However, when they found out that white (Ka-thit) flowers from heaven were growing instead in hell, they became furious and began marching to heaven to have a war with heaven dwellers. Lightening, thundering and pouring rain are results of the war between heaven and hell, as the song implies using several metaphors. Many credits go to Mabaydar (youtube.com for word for word translation and Mathida for brief introduction. I would not have sung this song without understanding the lyrics completely.. so, thanks to you guys! This song was written by a legendary Burmese song writer Myo Ma Nying. I think the original singer is U Aunt Gyi. I have seen a cover by Daw Mar Mar Aye whom I regarded as one of the best Burmese singers. Yan Aung also covered this song.
