As request by some of my Subscribers, an example of a cord wrap for our Becker BK-2. How after the purchase of our Micarta scales the BK-2 may not need a cord wrapped handle, but it makes a great example. Para cord wrapping your knife handle can improve the grip and also absorb shock from chopping with larger heavier blades. It also a great way to store extra cord for your treks.

This is my shortened version of how to make a survival bracelet with paracord. I did so many takes on this video, I had to settle for the best one. I forgot to mention that this knot is called the "cobra" knot. You can also do a "king cobra" knot by tying the cobra knot again on top of an already finished cobra knot (this makes a bracelet of the same thickness of the ones I show at the beginning of the video). Also, I did the duo tone (OD green and black) by simply fusing two different colors together on my knot rope. You can do this by just melting the ends and then pushing the ends together quickly before they solidify. Hope this makes some kind of sense and helps if you are trying to learn how to do it!

I finally cut off my 10 month old paracord bracelet. Its been a great companion but some say it smells lol. Perhaps I am used to the smell, none the less I decided to make a new one which I can take on and off. I use the serrated knife of my Leatherman Super Tool 300 to cut the paracord off my wrist safely.

Parachute cord (also paracord or 550 cord) is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of US parachutes during World War II. Once in the field, paratroopers found this cord useful for many other tasks. It is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians. This versatile cord was even used by astronauts during STS-82, the second Space Shuttle mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope. The braided sheath has a high number of interwoven strands for its size, giving it a relatively smooth texture. The all-nylon construction makes paracord fairly elastic; depending on the application this can be either an asset or a liability. Despite the historic association of paracord with Airborne units, virtually all US units have access to the cord. It is used in almost any situation where light cordage is needed. Typical uses include attaching equipment to harnesses, as dummy cords to avoid losing small or important items, tying rucksacks to vehicle racks, securing camouflage nets to trees or vehicles, and so forth. When threaded with beads, paracord may be used as a pace counter to estimate ground covered by foot. The yarns of the core (commonly referred to as "the guts") can also be removed when finer string is needed, for instance as sewing thread to repair gear or fishing line in a survival situation.
