Liszt - Paraphrase on Handel's Sarabande from Almira
Paraphrase on a Sarabande (and Chaconne) from Handel's Almira S. 181 (1879) This work is listed in Humphrey Searle's authoritative catalogue as a piano transcription. But many Liszt scholars and analysts are unsure about labeling it a piano transcription. First of all, the Sarabande is actually a Chaconne, and the Chaconne (absent from this video) has no ground bass at all. Liszt does indeed faithfully transcribe the Sarabande from Handel's Almira, but only as a springboard for his own set of variations. Searle admittedly believes this work must be considered an original composition from Liszt's late period.
The Paraphrase Of Shem - 1/5
The Paraphrase of Shem is an apocryphal Gnostic writing discovered in the Codex VII of the Nag Hammadi Codices. It starts off saying that it is "[The] paraphrase which was about the unbegotten Spirit." It's an apocalyptic writing that talks of Shem's ascension and recension to Earth. It also throws its own spin on the Biblical Flood, Sodom's destruction, and the baptism and resurrection of the Savior. It also refers to Shem as the first person on Earth which is similar to Old Testament teaching regarding Adam, but can also be connected to Jesus who, according to the New Testament said "Before Abraham was, I AM."

Tico Tico No Fuba (Paraphrase)
My own Concert Paraphrase for piano on "Tico Tico No Fuba", a famous brazilian song composed by Zequinha de Abreu and played or sung by several artists, among them Carmen Miranda. I followed the music's original structure, making changes in harmony and form. For the pianists, there are two funny surprises at the end: quotations of Chopin's Etude op.25 n.12 and Liszt's Grand Galop Chromatique.
